The M Social Hotel Times Square offers a prime location in the heart of Manhattan, known for its proximity to Broadway and Times Square. However, recent reviews indicate inconsistent experiences, with concerns regarding room cleanliness, outdated facilities, and a recurring issue with potential smoking charges.

Very poor value to quality overall, the hotel used to be a good Novotel but with the change of ownership, it deteriorated. People at the entrance are fake friendly and just want you to pay the maximum price possible even if your experience was not perfect (we could not even review our bill before validation…). Breakfast is a steal honestly, nothing like continental breakfast you would traditionally expect, you have to pay more for coffee and tea, they ask for tips but cannot even prepare eggs for someone allergic to lactose. On top, we had to queue for the breakfast!!! I have never seen something like this…. It just make 0 sense to run a place like this with such money maximizing attitude. If you’re looking for a place in Time Squares you will most likely cross by this hotel, but please try something else. Unfortunately I have no good alternatives recommendations but there are plenty of options! To be fair to the hotel, rooms are nice. Plus the hotel looks really much much cheaper than on the instagram pictures. Like no comparison. Have fun in NY!!

Avoid this property and Beware of False $500 Smoking Charges – Very Concerning Experience Our stay at M Social Hotel Times Square New York started off fine, but ended with an extremely troubling experience that other travelers should be aware of. A member of our work team received a letter in her room stating she was being charged a $500 smoking fee. We were shocked because she does not smoke and no one smoked in the room. Assuming it was simply a misunderstanding, we went to speak with the front desk and manager. Instead of investigating or having a conversation, the staff and manager were rude, dismissive, and even raised their voices at my colleague. They claimed the hotel uses a “high-tech system” in the rooms to detect smoking and insisted there was nothing they could do, directing us to contact our bank if we wanted to dispute the charge. We are very seasoned travelers and have stayed in countless hotels around the world. We have never experienced anything like this before, especially the unwillingness of staff to even review a charge that appears to be incorrect. After the incident, we researched the hotel and were surprised to find many other reviews reporting the same $500 smoking charge issue, which is extremely concerning. Travelers should be very cautious about staying here. Our team plans to report this situation to the Better Business Bureau and other consumer organizations because this pattern of charges raises serious concerns. It’s unfortunate because the location is good, but based on this experience and how it was handled, I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

Spent 4 nights at the M Social. The room was really big by NYC standards. Great walking location and close to the subway. Lots of quick breakfast spots and dinners to walk to. The lobby/lounge had a great vibe. Definitely will be staying again next time I’m in the city.

I definitely recommend this hotel for several reasons. I’ve been there with my husband and our two kids for a couple of days. 1. the staff is exceptional, they make a huge difference by treating us not as tourists but as guests. Special thanks to Ennio at the reception, he was helpful and welcoming. A huge thank you from the whole family to Victor our bartender, he really made our stay special and was careful to serve fresh, delicious, perfect drinks for us and the kids. If you feel like having a glass of extra fresh champagne, treat yourself! You wont be disappointed and feel like a VIP for a very decent price. 2. the hotel itself is well situated, has an outdoor terrace with a view on Time Square, a terrific bar with great staff (i repeat it on purpose) and serve more than decent food at a more than decent price. So if you had a long day and want to rest your feet while enjoying nice food and drinks, don't look further! Plus, Kids can relax in the huge lobby they have baby soccer and video games. 3. The rooms are more spacious than any NYC hotels i have ever been, and they are pretty well sound insulated! The bedding was perfect. We all slept well. 4. Oh! The staff is exceptional, did I mention it? A 5 stars well deserved, I recommend this hotel, for singles, couples, families. Thank you ? sandra and family from Montreal

When we first arrived to the room, it had a musty/moist smell, probably because there wasn’t good ventilation in the bathroom. Also, there were no slippers or hand soap when we first arrived. During the second night, the safe failed on us and the password stopped working for no reason. This seems particularly risky because it means the safes are not reliable. We also had to call security either in the middle of the night or the next morning, which was tedious. For two days, our room was not serviced simply because we slept in and woke up around 11 am. Even though we called the front desk five times asking for housekeeping to come, no one ever showed up. When they eventually came just to give us new towels, they left the entire set on the bathroom floor and did not even acknowledge it when we mentioned it, saying “you should’ve been in the room.” The explanation for why they didn’t service the room was that “you left a piece of clothing on the bed,” although this seems like a very sketchy excuse. Although the location is nice (Broadway and Times Square are right by), the entrance of the hotel is deplorable. We didn’t even realize we had arrived at the hotel when we walked by. The hotel is honestly overpriced, with $250 taken from the deposit (ours was $500), which was a surprise that they didn’t mention when we were checking in. One thing that is nice is the view, which is honestly stunning. We paid $100 extra for the deluxe room though, so I guess it was as advertised.

????? I have stayed at the M Social Hotel in Time Square NYC multiple times, and it has truly become my go-to spot whenever I’m visiting New York City. The location is perfect, the hotel is always clean and stylish, and the atmosphere captures the energy of the city in the best way. What consistently stands out to me is the incredible staff. The Security Team deserves special recognition for their professionalism and attentiveness. They’re always visible, welcoming, and make you feel safe and comfortable throughout your stay, which adds a lot of peace of mind when traveling. I’d especially like to recognize Axel Garcia, who has been outstanding every time I’ve visited. Axel is extremely friendly, accommodating, and genuinely makes guests feel welcomed the moment they arrive. He goes out of his way to ensure you’re taken care of, and his warm personality makes every stay feel even more enjoyable. Another thing I really appreciate is the helpful parking advice the staff provides. Parking in NYC can be stressful, but the team takes the time to recommend the best nearby options and offers practical tips that make the process much easier. Because of the consistently excellent service, welcoming environment, and great location, M Social Hotel has become my first choice whenever I’m in NYC. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the city.

What a great place to stay. Modern and sophisticated. Rooms modern and the views were just what we wanted. We stayed on the 11th floor which was only two up from the lowest floor (as other businesses underneath). Its was perfect height to see the hustle and bustle but not noisy. Subway just outside so connections to other areas. Central park a short walk. MJ musical next door which was amazing. I would definitely stay here again. Bar great and sells Brooklyn lager! Only very slight niggle was the checkin which was a bit chaotic.

Me and my partner have stayed here twice now visiting from the UK. The location and view from the time square view room is 10/10. We were a bit hesitant to book this 2nd time as read a lot about the $500 smoking scam. We went with my partners mum and my parents and sister. In total we had 4 rooms. None of us received the room $500 smoking fee. We all really enjoyed our stay and would stay again and recommend it to other visitors. The only 2 things we were not a fan of was the AC. It had a dehumidifier in it which dried out the room but left us waking up at night feeling like a prune. The rooms also had a few small areas which weren’t clean but overall felt very clean in the room. Would definitely come back in future.

This hotel is in a great location, bang on Times Square and Broadway. Room was clean and tidy. Decent shower. Free safe for passports, money etc. We didn’t use the bar area but it did look quite nice. One thing I will say is that when you check in you have to pay $100 per night. We had to fork out $400 immediately on arrival. We did get this back pretty much straight away after checking out. Also had to pay $183 tourist tax which I asked if they could take from the $400 deposit. We had read some reviews after we’d booked (stupid I know) and kept reading about a “scam” this hotel had running around a $500 dollar charge for smoking in the room. It did make me quite nervous throughout our stay but when we checked out nothing was said. We didn’t vape or smoke in the room so I shouldn’t have really been worried. Overall a pleasant experience if you’re just looking for somewhere to sleep and shower during a short stay.

Title: Wonderful stay – outstanding service and spotless room! We had a fantastic stay and truly enjoyed our time at the hotel. Everything was comfortable, well-organized, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. A special thank you to Valentina, our room attendant, who made a big difference during our stay. She was incredibly friendly, always smiling, and we were very satisfied with the room cleaning—everything was spotless and cared for with great attention. Valentina was also very helpful and gave us great tips, which we really appreciated. Also, Stella at the reception was very kind and professional. She helped us quickly whenever we had a question and made check-in/out easy and pleasant. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely recommend this hotel. We would happily stay here again!
