Hotel Scherman is a charming boutique hotel located on Restaurant Row in Midtown Manhattan, offering a convenient base for exploring the city. Guests consistently praise its excellent location, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms, often highlighting the proximity to theaters, restaurants, and subway stations. While breakfast is basic, the overall experience is considered positive due to the hotel’s character and convenient amenities.
An adorable boutique hotel with tons of charm! We stayed in the townhouse portion of the property and loved our beautiful street-view room. The hotel is connected to Bar Lola, a fun Art Deco bar. The hotel is located on Restaurant Row, so you'll have plenty of great dining options just steps away. If your room isn't ready when you arrive, you'll have no trouble finding something delicious around the corner. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore the area while enjoying a unique and charming stay.An adorable boutique hotel with tons of charm! We stayed in the walk-up townhouse portion of the property and loved our beautiful street-view room.
Stayed 4 nights with my two middle schoolers. The double queen room was perfect for the 3 of us, as my daughter and I shared one bed and my son was happy to have his own to spread out. The beds and pillows were very comfortable! Also, while the bathroom was a tight squeeze (one person only) it was clean and cute and the shower had great water pressure. The continental breakfast was perfect to start our day. There were no hot offerings, but there was yogurt, bagels, toast, granola, pastries, and plenty of fruit. The OJ and coffee were really good too. We are not “eggs and bacon every day” people. The location is great, right on restaurant row, but it’s still a relatively quiet block (for NYC—you should still expect some street/neighbor noise). As a single mom, I never felt unsafe walking with my kids after dark. You’re practically stumbling over restaurants to check out at every doorstep. We didn’t do a Broadway show this time, but I noticed the hotel is just steps from all of the major theaters. And, it’s situated exactly between 2 subway stations, so getting to other areas is very easy. If you like a smaller, more personal experience without all the gimmicky stuff the big chain hotels charge extra mandatory fees for, this is the spot for you. The decor is tasteful, and it’s overall very clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again!
We had a great stay at this hotel in New York. After an 11-hour flight, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a higher-category King room, which really made us happy. It was a wonderful start to our trip. The location is perfect—very central, yet away from the busy chaos of the city. The street is full of nice restaurants, which made everything very convenient. Times Square is also within walking distance. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job every day. Breakfast might feel a bit limited depending on your expectations, but for New York standards, it was absolutely fine. What really stood out was the staff—everyone was very friendly, positive, and helpful. A special thanks to the receptionist who turned out to be Turkish—it was such a nice surprise! They also allowed us to leave our luggage at the hotel after check-out, which made our last day much easier. If I come back to NYC, I would definitely stay here again.
We would definitely stay here again. The facilities in the room were exactly what we needed and the shower was great. Everything was clean and nothing seemed too much trouble. Breakfast which was next door was basic continental but had everything that you would want from that kind of breakfast. Fantastic place.
We loved our stay and would definitely return! This was my first time here at this hotel and the room was clean, modern and perfect for us! The staff were kind, attentive and accommodating with a sweet message of welcome on arrival. We appreciated everything about the hotel and the location was perfect. So glad we stayed here!
We stayed at Hotel Scherman on a family trip to NYC, and the two-bedroom suite (Room 402) was absolutely perfect for us. It was surprisingly spacious and spotless, with a comfortable living area, kitchenette, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large outdoor balcony. The kitchenette was well equipped with a Keurig, a small fridge with a freezer, a microwave (in a cabinet), plates, cups, mugs, silverware, and a wine opener. We also loved the rooftop balcony on the 5th floor for the views, and the continental breakfast was solid, especially the croissants and hard-boiled eggs, which we enjoyed every morning. The location can’t be beat: close to great restaurants, shows, Times Square, and subway stations. I would absolutely stay at Hotel Scherman again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in New York City.
I absolutely loved this hotel. The staff were perfect, friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The room (306) was just amazing. Had such a lovely feel to it, and the staff had done a great job to make us welcome, with a hand written note and nice ambient music playing. I would happily have spent all day in there. The only tiny criticisms I could point to are the lengthy delay before hot water appeared out the shower, and the breakfast could be a bit more inspiring. But we wanted to have breakfast out anyway so we were not bothered. I will absolutely be back here the next time I'm in New York.
We enjoyed a stay end of December 2025. Hotel Scherman is a beautiful boutique hotel. The desk agents were so friendly, warm and welcoming. We enjoyed the king bed with sofa bed room for 2 nights. Our room was surprisingly quiet and we slept well (even with the window slightly cracked). The continental breakfast was a welcome bonus--the croissants were outstanding! We were steps from many restaurant and bar options. We walked to Times Square (even with the cold December weather, this was an easy short walk) and to a show at the Lyric Theater. Uber ride to LGA was ~30 minutes. Terrific location, quiet boutique hotel nestled in city.
I stayed from the 17th to 20th of December 2025. It was my first time solo travelling (i’m from London) so it was daunting but the hotel was very safe and the staff made me feel very welcome. As I was solo travelling I wanted to be near everything and the location was perfect for me - short walk to aladdin on broadway, 15 min walk to radio city hall where I watched the rockettes. The furthest I walked was 30 mins to the United Nations but of course it is near the subway if you wish to use that! The view from the terrace at night and in the day was to die for! Despite being 5 mins from times square it was so quiet I had no issue with sleeping!
We had a great stay recently to enjoy the city during Christmas time. Location was walking distance to many of the tourist spots, places to eat and the subway. We had a suite snd it was fantastic for our group to be able to stay together. Highly recommend!
