Sanctuary Hotel is a chic, high-value boutique located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. It is highly praised for its exceptionally welcoming and personalized staff, elegant design, and prime location near Times Square. However, recent guests have reported issues with administrative procedures involving third-party bookings and unexpected resort fees, which have negatively impacted their value perception.
Hello there Jimmy, the hotel director we thank you so much for your support and the hospitality, you have provided us at the hotel like you have promised to us that will experience a wonderful time at the hotel and indeed we have thanks to so much, me and my wife had a wonderful time, your hotel is beautiful, and the people was so nice and friendly, we have the opportunity to meet your hotel manager Leni another great professional. It was the best experience I have during my birthday at the hotel. the hotel is at the perfect location we loved unfortunately we have cut our vocation short due to the snow blizzards, but will definitely come back again. We really enjoyed our short, one-night stay at Sanctuary. The staff was incredibly helpful with any of our questions; recommendations for a quick bite, which subway to take to our destination, hailing our cabs, caring for our belongings before and after check-out. They were friendly and beyond accommodating! The rooms were clean and offered a wonderful bathroom with lots of space and modern finishings! The location was perfect! Again, the service we received during our stay will continue to be the highlight and the main reason for me to leave this review! We ate at the Sushi Lab which is located on the top floor of hotel and was equally amazing with service and incredible fare! Could not greatly recommend this boutique hotel any more (not my first stay in NYC)!!
I booked this hotel decently last minute and without much thought but it truly ended up being possibly my favorite hotel in the theater district. We had the deluxe room which was spacious and comfortable. The location truly can't be beat walk ability wise, plus being on a side street made it a lot quieter than the usual NYC hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning.
A warm friendly welcome on arrival. Rooms were very small with no view from the window just a brick wall. Staff couldn't do enough for you and food was good as hotel included a continental breakfast on the top floor of the hotel. (Fire exit was blocked with chairs though. ) Well stocked mini bar in the room and snacks tray but it was all expensive. Also a menu and room service. Rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day. There was a bar on the first floor but it was soulless and rarely manned. However there were plenty of others within feet of the hotel. It was well situated for all of the tourist attractions. Despite being on top of Times Square it wasn't noisy. A subway station at the end of the street.
We have just returned from a one week stay at Sanctuary hotel, New York. The location was perfect, a stones throw away from absolutely everything. We had a slight issue upon arrival, we actually booked this hotel through a 3rd party company Love holidays.. which had sold us a lie, and falsely advertised this hotel and the package we paid for. We didn't realise this until we arrived, we surprisingly had to pay deposits & fees at this hotel that we weren't expecting to pay, so we were a few hundred out of pocket already upon arrival, something we hadn't budgeted for as we weren't made aware. Again this was not the hotels fault directly, but something worth knowing if you've booked with a 3rd party company. Jose at the front desk had checked us in, and helped us the entire time, and he was so lovely and helpful. Extremely friendly also! He explained this is a frequent issue with Love Holidays, and talked us through contacting them once we're home to get a refund. The hotel is beautiful, had a nice partial window view of times square, the bed is SO comfortable! Also shout out to Jaydee the bell boy, what a diamond he is!! So attentive, very friendly and so welcoming. We had a issue regarding our pick up with the transfer company to come back home Sunday. As so many roads was shut, the driver kept giving mixed signals , he had to park streets away but didn't explain exactly where he was.. Jaydee made sure everything was as stress free as possible, he spoke to the transfer company on my phone to find out exactly where he was, and then walked me and my fiancée to the taxi driver, streets away, and made sure we got in that cab safely. He was the only bell boy working that day, everything was hectic but he made everything flow so freely and made everything easy for us. Will definitely return to this hotel!!
Slowest check-in at counter on earth! Only one person at desk and she took forever. Check-out at 12pm. 11.55am we get a knock on the door. We acknowledged. Then again at 11:57am and AGAIN at 11:59am as we were literally walking out of the door. Are you kidding me???? I didn’t even say a word to the woman. I just looked at her as if she was crazy. Also, their system was down and none of the doors would open, so staff had to literally open the door for us. However, upon opening the door to my room, the staff member knocked on it first, announced herself and then waited as if someone might answer? What is this all about? She said they always do that. A bt unsettling. This is NOT something I would ever want to think is ever a possibility. Did not make me comfortable at all. How about YOU make sure no one is in my room first before assigning it to me. I don’t need the potential surprise of seeing someone IN my room upon entering it. I also asked for a room that was not next to the elevator when I checked in, and was told it wasn’t. Well, my room could not be any closer TO the elevator. Literally. They serve coffee in the lobby which is very nice, but it was almost cold and no microwave in room to heat it up. Lastly, in the morning the staff cleaning the rooms are VERY noisy in the hallway and kept on waking up me and my boyfriend. Cannot wait to NEVER return! Traveling and staying in hotels extensively, there are plenty other options in Manhattan. I highly recommend you to seek them out. Good luck!
We booked this hotel through Expedia with free breakfast. Upon check-in the hotel refused to provide free breakfast and asked to contact Expedia. We tried calling Expedia and it took up over an hour to talk to somebody and the solution they provided to us was unsatisfactory. We were at the room trying to figure out a solution with hotwire then the reception asked us to leave the room immediately if we want our resort fee refund and continue the discussion with hotwire at the lobby. This was very rude and disrespectful. This whole situation is a business to business relationship between the hotel and Expedia. They should resolve this issue between them and not waste my time that added alot of frustration and ruined my trip to new York. Very unhappy and will make sure to contact better business bureau as well. One side note, the room is very small. Understand that because it is in times square. However, coffee is cold. Also, there is a chair in the lobby that is very old and sinking. Come on, this is a 4 star hotel, you guys can do better
Hotel was ok and nicely located. We were asked to give a $150 room deposit which would be returned on checking out, we assumed this was for the in room mini bar and snacks (we never used) which is fine. On checking out we were told that deposit was all good and would be returned soon, only part of the money was returned and when we queried this we were explained about these hidden fees for gym we never used, WiFi we thought was free and breakfast we had already paid for before arriving. If you use this hotel I would ask upon checking in about the hidden "destination fees".
The Sanctuary Hotel has a few strong points, especially if you enjoy convenience. There are great sushi options on site, and the staff were consistently kind and helpful. The design isn’t bad—just a bit different aesthetically—but it gives the hotel its own personality. My room was okay, on the smaller side, and the carpet had an older smell that I wasn’t thrilled about. Still, the hotel’s extremely central location makes getting around the city effortless. Overall, a solid option if you value helpful staff, good sushi downstairs, and a prime location.
Checked in yesterday. Everything about this hotel is superb. Staff super friendly, large rooms (double double) with enough room for cases and 3 people. Comfy beds and lovely shower Thoroughly recommend, loving it so far!!!
