Guests consistently praise the unbeatable location and highly responsive, friendly service, often highlighting specific staff members like Charles or property managers who went above and beyond. However, the experience is significantly marred by concerns regarding structural aging and noise pollution, with reports of dated furniture, worn decor, and thin walls that compromise the typically luxurious W brand standards.
We had an amazing 4 days at The W! My daughter and I had a long weekend in NYC and saw 2 shows! We chose The W for its location and we weren’t too concerned with luxury! Well, the room was great with a fantastic view of Times Square! Everything was perfect from the doormen to the front desk and their driver, Charles! We never waited for the elevators and our room was cleaned to perfection daily! Would I stay there again? In a heartbeat!!! Thanks so much!!!
The perfect stay in Times Square. So happy we were able to find a room last minute after having to check out from another property abruptly. The location is great easy to get to and from. The doorman and the check in staff were so polite and friendly. We had dinner at the Mexican restaurant and the food was good and the service was great. The rooms were cozy and perfect for our group of 4. I would def stay here for my future visits to New York. The only downfall was the staff at the bar the vibes were totally off , the DJ was great playing good music but the attitude of the bartenders was not. If they don't like working there maybe they should look for another profession.
Overall, my stay was mediocre. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. However, there were several issues that impacted my experience. There was no microwave in the room, which was inconvenient. The biggest problem by far was the elevators. The call buttons were unreliable sometimes one side wouldn’t work at all, and even when they did, the elevators took a very long time to arrive. On multiple occasions, the elevator would stop on random floors, making the whole system feel completely out of sync and very frustrating. When I entered the room, the TV was noticeably crooked, and being in the city, the windows did not block out noise as well as expected. Overall, I would rate my stay a 5–6 out of 10.
I recently stayed at W New York Times Square and unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. On a positive note, the staff were genuinely very nice and provided good customer service throughout my stay. Everyone I interacted with was polite, professional, and helpful. However, the condition of the property was extremely disappointing. The hotel feels old and very dated, especially the 7th-floor Living Room area. The furniture in this space appeared worn and, at times, visibly dirty, which was surprising for a W-branded property. The guest rooms themselves are also dated and in clear need of cosmetic repairs. Overall, the finishes and furnishings felt tired and neglected. Additionally, the photos on the hotel’s website are quite misleading. The images appear heavily enhanced and do not accurately reflect the actual look or condition of the hotel. What you see online is not what you experience in person. Based on this stay, I would not return to this location. This review is informed by previous W Hotel stays, including a very recent stay in November 2025 at W Punta Cana, which was a completely different experience. The Punta Cana property is modern, beautifully maintained, and truly delivers on the W brand promise. I highly recommend that location. Overall, while the service at W Times Square was pleasant, the condition of the property falls far short of expectations for the brand.
Our stay at the W Hotel Times Square was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed with kindness, warmth, and top-tier service that never missed a beat. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite, and it was absolutely spectacular—beautifully designed, spacious, impeccably clean, and 100% worth it. The entire hotel radiates a NYC vibe: stylish and energetic, while still feeling comfortable and inviting. We also felt safe going in and out. The food was outstanding across the board—room service breakfast was delicious and indulgent, and even the late-night snacks hit the spot after long days in the city. The self parking is only a few blocks away, which is easily walkable with luggage. I will say they tried to significantly overcharge for our SUV but the hotel staff worked with us instantly to help make it right. We were celebrating a birthday on this trip, and the staff definitely went the extra mile to make this celebration memorable. The location is perfect! Every detail felt thoughtful, every interaction memorable. We loved every single moment of our stay and can’t imagine a better home base in NYC. We’ll absolutely be back.
Stay here for 3 nights. I expected good service but found it lacking. I arrived early, so we needed to wait to check in and drop off our luggage, which took a long time. The reception staff are friendly but unhelpful—they mostly chat among themselves and do not provide useful information about the hotel's benefits. I chose this hotel mainly for its location in the town square, but with this level of service, it doesn't seem worth it. The hotel appears old on the outside, and inside, it's small but modern in style. A few hours later, I returned to find my room still not ready, and they offered me another room, which was better as the second receptionist was more helpful than the first. The second room, a corner unit on the 45th floor, was somewhat small but offered a good view. The rate was $40 per day, charged to the credit card, mainly for new york fee, which wasn't very worth it. The air conditioning works fine, the internet is reliable (as paid for), but the shower temperature fluctuates unpredictably.
The staff is always very helpful and professional. Accessing the elevators is great. Very little waiting. The main issue is the weird acrilic decor, the very low profile bed, and lack of counter in the bathroom. Water pressure is great in the shower. Recommend this hotel for the location and staff.
I stayed here on business (was pre-arranged via the expo I was attending) and overall would not recommend this location to others, and will not stay here again if I have the choice. With that being said it is not as terrible some of the other reviews allude to. The rooms are actually fairly sized for New York standards and the front desk agent was kind enough to upgrade me to a higher floor with a nice view when I told her it was my first visit. The worst part is the noise at night. For a hotel in Times Square you would expect better insulation but the outside wall is paper thin, it sounded as if I had the window wide open. If you are visiting to party it might not be a bad choice but business travelers or those with early morning plans should seek an alternative.
Beautiful rooms. Service was excellent. If we needed a recommendation for a good show or restaurant, the staff would find us a place and make the reservation. That was super helpful and very important to us. We really liked having that option. The building was super nice, I loved looking down at the city and rooftops from our room. 10 out of 10.
Overall, the hotel was good. Check-in was fast, and we were given a great room on the 56th floor. As you enter the hotel, there is an elegant waterfall displayed on the ceiling, which was one of my favorite features. The housekeeping staff was amazing. They serviced our room daily and made sure everything was clean and comfortable, major kudos to them. If you are a light sleeper, I recommend requesting a very high floor. Even though we were up fairly high, we could still hear traffic and downtown crowds through the windows. I am giving this hotel 4 stars due to issues with billing. Upon arrival, a deposit was taken for incidentals and nightly fees. However, two days into our stay, I noticed an additional $100 charge was taken from my account, followed by another attempted $200 charge that my bank declined. I went to the front desk to address my concerns, and the clerk stated it was for incidentals and nightly room fees—but those had already been charged at check-in. When I pointed this out, she was unable to provide a clear explanation. Another downside was the daily $20 drink credit advertised for their restaurants (there are two in the building). I decided to use the credit, only to find that one drink cost $39. In reality, the “$20 credit” simply encourages guests to dine at their restaurant while still paying about $19 out of pocket—similar to prices at nearby restaurants. It felt misleading. There is also a cozy, preset lounge area near the bar that is very relaxing, which was a nice touch. On a positive note, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of great restaurants and the Rockefeller Tree. Lastly, our flight was delayed, and the hotel kindly allowed us an extra hour to check out. They also held our luggage until it was time for us to head to the airport, which we truly appreciated.
