This AKA property offers spacious, modern accommodations in a prime location with exceptional staff service, though guests occasionally report issues with maintenance and room noise. While many praise the friendly team and convenience of the apartment-style units, a handful of reports mention functional problems with elevators, bathrooms, and hygiene.
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel, but what truly made the difference for us was Cesar. From the very first day, he treated us as if we were the only guests in the hotel. He was always attentive, warm, and genuinely empathetic, making sure every detail of our stay was taken care of. He went above and beyond to help us with all our needs and gave us excellent recommendations around the city, which made our experience in New York even better. The hotel itself is very good and we really enjoyed it — but honestly, if we come back, it will be mainly because of Cesar’s outstanding service. Thank you, Cesar, for making our stay so special.
Amazing week spent here for NYE celebration and we absolutely loved AKA Times Square! Rooms were immaculate, conveniently located with restaurants, shopping, pubs, subway, and obviously right in Times Square. Highlight of our trip is that rockstar at the front desk Kevin! What a delight to have him greet everyone on a dialy basis. Kevin is an absolute legend!
Elevators haven’t worked in 2 days and no resolution in sight. Takes at least an hour to get a manual ride. My wife is a type 1 diabetic and her sugar was low last night, we used the service elevator a few times that day but was denied when it was most needed. The reason being it was being used for “trash” and my situation was not an emergency so she waited for me to bring something to help her sugar levels. I was also denied the stairs being “they are for emergency’s only” while my family was walking down 35 flights. I don’t understand how this isn’t a safety issue with a fire or health situation . No exhaust fans in bathroom, mold in shower and sink.
Great hotel. Great rooms. Very clean. Has a gym. Just a little more expensive than a regular hotel room and we ended up with a 2 bedroom apartment with washer/dryer and kitchen (instead of a 175 sq ft shoebox). We've stayed here 3 times this year and will likely stay here every time we come to NYC. We've stayed here for a few days and we've stayed longer term. Staff is very nice and helpful. I really love this hotel.
We stayed at the AKA Times Square the last week of November, right before Thanksgiving. This is really a good find. Hotels in Manhattan are expensive. We needed two rooms and that was going to be prohibitively expensive. The AKA has two-bedroom apartments so we saved half the amount we would have had to pay at essentially any other hotel. The bathroom was small but we are all family so it was not a problem. There is a full kitchen if you want to cook and there is a refrigerator if you take a bag home from the restaurant and want to heat it up later. The room was quiet, the heating and air conditioning worked, it was well lit and well-maintained. It was clean and comfortable. I have no complaints about our room. The lobby is small which is typical of street-front New York hotels. The staff behind the desk was exceedingly friendly. I do not think I have ever had such a friendly front desk staff that seemed interested in what we were doing that day. On the upper floors there is an adequate gym if you are inclined to work out. There is also morning coffee, tea, pastries, and fruit on the top floor which is a wonderful place to sit and read the paper or look at your phone while having a cup of coffee. The location of the AKA is pretty perfect for a tourist. It is between two successful theaters steps away. It is literally right next-door to Cafe Un Deux Trois which is a solid French restaurant that always seemed to find me a table. There is a nice bar across the street, you are steps away from Times Square, a short walk from Fifth Avenue, MOMA, and all that shopping, and you can take an Uber just about anywhere else. This is an exceptional hotel if you need more than one bedroom and/or you plan to stay for awhile. We will go back.
We stayed at AKA Times Square for 7 days. The staff were great specially "Kevin" and Cesar. The cleaning service was excellent too. Location was super convenient. Our stay was during Thanksgiving and we were able to see Macy's Parade from our room. I will definitely stay there again any time I visit NYC!
After many different hotels in NY city this has to be the perfect spot for anyone who wants to explore Manhattan. Super conveniently located next to times square but the hotel itself lies in a pretty quiet spot! The studio was spacious and the bathroom beyond any conventional hotel room. Huge walk in shower and a lot of space to bring your whole bathroom. There was even daylight in the shower! To top it all off the staff was amazing! Some of the nicest “hotel” staff I met so far, you get the feeling of living in a nice doorman apartment rather than some random hotel. Overall dont go to any of those expensive fancy hotels, just go AKA. On a sidenote, the air conditioning in the room was supreme. Very comfortable in late August.
This Hotel was AMAZING. We had zero negative experiences while we were here. Both of the doorman’s that we saw while we were here (Ceaser and Ellet) were super friendly. Ellet waited with me while our door dash was coming just to make sure I was safe. Ceaser when we got here brought the bags up and when we left came up stairs and loaded all of our bags and got them into the car. The front desk staff were all super friendly and kind. We loved chatting with Kevin and Elliot. The rooms were super clean and this was a perfect location to see shows. The maid did an amazing job and they were super accommodating. We will be back. Thank you for such an amazing stay.
This was my second time staying at the AKA Times Square and the entire experience was fantastic!! Centrally located in Manhattan with very easy access to the subways, Broadway shows, Bryant Park, along with great restaurants and shopping. Everyone at the desk and door are so welcoming and friendly (and a special shout-out to Kevin who always makes our day when we see him) and even though house keeping is only once a week, if you have a request they are wonderful and attentive. During my most recent trip (for one week with my husband), I stayed in the one bedroom premium suite with den and it was wonderful. Loved the well appointed kitchen, large bedroom, plenty of closet space, and having a nice and quiet "home" to come back to after a long day in the city. I do wish the bathroom had been a bit bigger however, I also know that space is a premium in NYC. I also have to mention that I slept so well given the mattress and pillows provided (which is always a huge plus when traveling). Thank you AKA Times Square for such a marvelous stay and we cannot wait to return!
We had a great 10 night stay at this lovely place. Excellent location and service. Staff is very helpful, friendly and accommodating, specially Julio, Miguel and Cesar at the front desk. The facilities are very nicely renovated, rooms and lounge are cozy and comfortable. It's relatively spacious for NYC, you get a nice sized fridge, washer and dryer, and all you could need if you wish to eat in. There's complimentary breakfast snacks and coffee and tea in the lounge every morning. They gave us optional housekeeping for free once a week, I guess you can ask for housekeeping for a price as well. They dont charge a housekeeping fee at the end when you leave, which is something other places require. You also get some hotel-like services, you can ask at front desk for toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, etc. and you can ask for new towels, robes, etc. we ven asked for an extra mirror and lamps, they brought it right away. We had a wonderful trip and this was the best place to stay! We will definitely be staying again here next time we are in NYC. Thanks! Edit after over a year: I will be coming back soon! Can't wait! And I'll make sure to request those slippers! Thanks Ms. Kee!
