Good, well placed hotel

Really good hotel, the bedrooms were very clean and had everything you needed for a city break. The toiletries were gorgeous, a real luxury after walking miles! The hotel is in an ideal location for seeing all the popular sights, during the day and night. The bell hops were so friendly and interested in everything we were doing while we were there. The other staff were ok but more functional than friendly. Ooh...and the breakfast was lovely!

Great location. Well appointed rooms. Very good Todd English restaurant BUT the best part of the stay were the staff particularly the two gentlemen, Charles and Abu, who greeted us and made sure any question we had was answered. They even took us down to the subway, right next to the hotel, and got our tickets and then made sure we knew which train to get on. Many NYC hotels have the same amenities but it is staff like Charles and Abu that distinguishes great from exceptional hospitality.

Front desk is snotty

Our family spent 2 nights here. When my husband booked the reservation through IHG, he didn't take advantage of the breakfast option. When we inquired about that option, the clerk could not have been more dismissive. These people have an attitude that they are in NY and you are on their turf and they could not care less. Let me tell you: I grew up in that city, and knew those streets before that snot at the front desk was even a thought. It's an awful way to begin your stay. The whole resort "credit" and how it is supposed to work is rediculous. Because of the excessive taxes, by the time you spend $50, you are actually up to about $75. To be frugal, pay the fee and don't try to "use it." It might work for a single glass of wine... I have stayed at other Intercontinentals and this one was nice, but di finitely not the nicest or the cleanest. That said, it's NYC and the location is perfect. With the amount of traffic they get, it's probably a lot better than many other places nearby. They use those honor bars that are electronic. If you remove an item from the fridge (or the kids do-) and they you put it back, you are charged for it. Also, since they have the fridge stocked with lots of over priced stuff, you can't use it for your own items- Milk for your kids, for example. That is a frustrating inconvenience for families. The guys working the bell service and the curb are top notch. They smile and they are happy to help. They act like normal people- not self important snobs.

Excellent Times Square Luxury Hotel

I always select the IC near Times Square when staying in Manhattan it’s proximity to major metro lines, Broadway shows, shopping, restaurants and Tines Square. It’s smaller than the Westin, Marriott and Sheraton that are similar caliber hotels but it’s advantage is that it does not feel overcrowded. Staff are friendly and always helpful. A key piece of information is that select a room on a higher floor (20s and above) and the street noise and views decrease exponentially. I stayed in a sky view studio suite which has a near 180’ view of 8th Avenue as well as the West River. It had a sofa bed and kind sized bed, desk area and a good sized bathroom. There is a resort fee but you can use it towards in room dining. Don’t miss out on the 3F gym which is actually very well equipped for a NY hotel. Room service is outstanding with my favorite the lobster guacamole. Also, the room can with free attraction tickets equal to the number of nights one stays. I had the option of a 2h River cruise from pier 78 or Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

Bad experiance

I am Ambassador and i booked my room on Points , staff explained that upgrade is not guaranteed when in description of ambassador benefit says: Enjoy a superior room at check-in, each time you stay. A superior room is defined as one category higher than purchased. That my room was tiny like in Motel8 and did not looked like 4 star hotel. Bathroom has mold, customer service Ambassador service has limited time opening and regular front desk serves friends first but not who in line first. Never stay again there
