Romer Hell’s Kitchen offers a stylish and centrally located stay in New York City, known for its comfortable rooms and convenient access to major attractions. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in service, cleanliness issues, and some operational shortcomings, particularly regarding amenities and responsiveness to guest requests. Although praised for its location and aesthetic, the hotel has experienced some mixed feedback regarding its overall quality and value.

We had a nice stay here. The rooms are comfortable and the staff were helpful. The location is convenient if you don't mind crowded streets. Transportation to all the areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn was really easy from this location. If you come in from Laguardia be sure to check out the Uber Shuttle, it is about $19 per person and has a stop near the hotel.

This was a great hotel for our stay in NYC. It was a nice size room, and the design is nice, aiming for a modern take on 1940s style, although it did feel a bit old in the bathroom and dark in the corridors. We did have a bit of trouble with getting the room cool during a heatwave, and the windows were also in desperate need of a clean. Otherwise, no real issues. The location was perfect, walking distance to Times Square and Central Park, with a subway station right at the door step. There is no real food options here unfortunately, but there is plenty to find outside.

The hotel feels more like a 3-star property overall. While the room itself is fairly spacious, the bathroom is extremely small. The biggest downside is definitely the air conditioning, it barely works and feels more like simple ventilation. At no point did the room get cooler than 23°C / 74°F, which made sleeping at night quite uncomfortable. The windows were unbelievably dirty to the point that they almost looked tinted. That being said, the location is excellent and definitely the hotel’s biggest advantage.

I'm disappointed with my decision to stay at Romer Hotel for my 40th birthday. I increased my budget because it seemed special but the "deluxe" king corner room was dark, dingy and worst of all the service was extremely unfriendly with the exception of one of the doormen (a slender fellow with glasses.) It was standard that no one greeted us at the entrance stand. Even when I tried to make eye contact or greet them. It's also worth noting that to check in early would have been an additional $55 - $75. Because it was my birthday my husband tried to arrange flowers left in the room as a surprise and was met with nothing but difficulty. The staff at first outright refused. When they did finally agree they almost declined the delivery then left it in the room still in the box with a post it note over the card. And of course the staff made no attempt to acknowledge this big 40th birthday milestone in any way. The house cleaning did the bare minimum. Didn't freshen up the bathroom or paper cups. We ordered out and the delivery forgot utensils and no one could or would provide us any utensils. That's pretty crazy for a supposed 4 star hotel. The unique colorful robes in the promotional pictures were missing completely and my room layout in the deluxe corner king varied greatly from the photos. The entire room had one singular vent to serve as AC and the bathroom had no ventilation which was probably why there were moldy spots and paint bubbling up. It took a day for the AC to get going. I chose a larger room but the bathroom was ridiculously small. No coffee maker. My nightstand and lamp never worked and the knot of wires was unpleasant to look at. Overall, I would not stay again. It's the worst feeling to try and treat yourself for it to fall so flat. I love a boutique hotel but this place completely missed the mark. I would have been just as happy in a holiday inn for 2/3rds the price.

Guest service was royal. Joan went above and beyond for our birthday celebration in NYC for my daughter. We are so grateful for her hospitality. The location is excellent, especially for theatre district goers. Room is cozy and perfect for rest in the bustling city. Can't wait to check out the piano bar with live music to finish our night! This is the place to stay in NYC

Perfect hotel, no issues at all! Had a deluxe corner king room and it was the perfect size, friendly and helpful staff, especially helping us with our bags and taxi on the last day! The cleaners were friendly and did a great job too. The location is perfect, a short walk from Central Park and Times Square, a subway station across the road and plenty of places to eat nearby too!

If you love a tasteful, old-school atmosphere, this place is a dream. Think rich dark tones, moody lighting, and that classic, handsome “another era” feel, like a stylish film set, but comfortable. One detail I kept noticing (in a great way) was the scent: a dark, musky soap fragrance that felt clean and elevated, like a high-end barbershop or classic boutique. Staff were friendly and the "So-and-So" speakeasy downstairs had live music playing to a full room of patrons enjoying drinks and dinner. The whole experience felt curated and timeless. Fantastic hotel. I have a new fave hotel in NYC right in the middle of everything: Times Square, theaters, Central Park, and all the subway lines. Awesome location in Hell's Kitchen!

We had a really good stay at Romers Hell’s Kitchen. The location is hard to beat. Right in Hell’s Kitchen, close to Times Square, restaurants, and easy subway access, but still far enough from the chaos to feel comfortable with kids. The room size worked surprisingly well for our family of four. Two adults and two kids fit comfortably without feeling cramped, which isn’t always easy to find in Manhattan. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Check-in was smooth, and everyone we interacted with was helpful. Overall, a great choice for families visiting NYC. Would definitely stay here again.

I had a great stay at Romer Hell’s Kitchen. The staff was excellent—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely professional throughout my visit. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making it easy to relax after a long day. I also really appreciated the lobby décor, which felt stylish, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. The hotel fully met my expectations, and I would be very happy to stay here again on a future visit.

Very nice spot for an NYC visit. super close to the subway, central park, Moma and times square. REALLY good pizza near by “$1.50 pizza”. the rooms are spacious but no tea or coffee available and tea kettle only available on request. There is a water dispenser near by but when we used it it was super mirky so stick with water bottles. Oh, another plus is the seven 11 right there so makes any last minute purchases easy. The staff was nice and very responsive. the place was clean and cozy. I would honestly stay again because the location was so great. and the view was really pretty too.
