Located in a prime spot above Times Square, this offering is extremely affordable but suffers from significant maintenance issues and was unfortunately unavailable for the most recent stay.
Well, we didn’t actually stay the night as the room was so appalling. The room is in need of gutting and refurbishing. The furniture needs to be burnt and replaced , along with everything else in the room. I have a list (and photos) of everything wrong with this room/hotel. For us the final straw, was no hot water!!! We were there for 10 mins then left to find somewhere that was at least habitable for humans. Awful awful awful. DO NOT STAY HERE
The hotel’s highlight is the location and price point for something in Times Square. The building is old and could use a renovation but the location and price make up for it. If you tend to whine or complain a lot, don’t stay here. This place is conveniently located to literally everything including good food spots and the subway. Front desk personnel were awesome and pleasant. They’ll keep your bags for you as well if you’re hitting up the airport later.
Great location. Rooms are tiny, the photos are deceiving, but it was exactly what I needed - somewhere to safe sleep. The towels in the bathroom smelt like puke, which wasn’t thrilling, and you’ll hear a lot of noise from the street, people walking through the halls, etc., but the bed was comfy. Room was way overpriced for what it is, but it’s also in the heart of Manhattan so I get it. If you just need a place to sleep it’ll do.
Stayed here recently and had 2 rooms. Horrible experience from check in to check out. Staff barely spoke English, even though rooms were ready wouldn’t let us check into one an hour early to use bathroom since hotel has no public bathroom. Rooms were dirty, sheets probably were not washed. One room, door would not lock and had to argue to get another room, was told to use the chain. What about when you leave the room? Response from desk person we are safe hotel no need to worry. Way over priced, many better places to stay nearby for a few dollars more. Avoid!
Rooms were absolutely nothing like advertised/expected. Close to attractions but very noisy (although is to be expected in NYC) our Window unit did not work, making the room way too warm for comfort, we called the front desk and asked if that was normal. She told me no and she would send someone right up to fix it. (THEY NEVER CAME). The next day we went to the front desk and asked for towels (we hadn’t gotten clean ones yet) and if we could somehow get a fan to our room, she told me she would get it to us. NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING not even a phone call to let us know the status on at least a clean towel.
Listen the room is small but it’s right next to Times Square and it’s the cheapest option in the area. If you’re expecting a large room this isn’t the place for you, go spend the extra money somewhere else. We came for the holidays and it was the cheapest option in a 10 MILE RADIUS This is a crash pad, but it’s comfy and it’s CLEAN. The staff is pretty nice and refrigerators are available upon request (we got one at check-in). We read the reviews here and checked in around 9pm and it was smooth. The elevator is slow, but it’s an old building so it’s to be expected. The bar across the street is pretty good, and there’s some amazing Japanese/dim sum places nearby as well that are open late. Some of the reviews here smh. If you expected the Hilton, go pay Hilton prices.
So we've stayed at econo lodges before and thought we knew what to expect. But NOTHING could have prepared us to pay 350 for these rooms. We came in, and the front door was broken. There were people fighting in the lobby, and that in itself was an experience. They gave us our first room, when we went in, the room was as big as my closet. And was so dusty you'd leave prints on whatever you touch. We were going to ignore it till we saw a giant stain in the middle of the bed from God knows what. We went back downstairs and asked management to change our rooms and they acted as if they were doing us a huge favor changing our rooms. The second room they gave us, the door was broken and wouldn't open. When we went back downstairs they made us go back up with the janitor to see if we weren't lying. The third room we got was a blessing compared to the other two, but there were stains on the carpet, there was no hot water, the TV didn't work and the light would flicker. But at this point it was almost 1 am and we were exhausted. Finding another hotel last min in New York city is expensive and the hotel policy is no refunds on any nights. The rooms themselves were as big as a walk in closet. DO NOT GO HERE. There are plenty of hotels in the same price range that are much better in the same location. Location is the only saving grace for this hotel.
First let me say that under $100 a block from Times Square is awesome. I totally recommend staying here if you're OK with one thing; This hotel is pretty great of you're up for dealing one thing; tight quarters. If that is something you're OK with the you'd be silly not to stay here. And honestly, I'm sure not every room is like mine was but make sure you ask when you make your reservation, which you can't do if you're a Hotwire user like myself. Other than than, I don't have any complaints. The price was great. The location was great. The rooms do nothing to hide outside noise but you're in the middle of one the biggest cities in the world. If you want a sensory deprivation tank then you need to go somewhere else. The rooms were clean and comfortable though, aside from my issue with the size. Remember, odds are that you won't be spending a lot of time in your room anyway. The staff was cool and the coffee in the lobby was free. I did take a video of the room to send to my friends, joking about the New York experience of a small space. I attached a couple of still from that video to show you a little of what I mean. Like I said, it's tight but if you're OK with that then this place is hard to beat.
