Guests generally praise this hotel's unbeatable location in Times Square and high-quality Westin beds and views which seem to improve significantly on higher floors. However, the experience is heavily mixed, with serious recurring complaints regarding inconsistent housekeeping, rude service, and significant noise intrusion despite the high price point.
This was a great place to stay. Easy walking distance to Times Square and all the theaters. Direct access to the subway. One suggestion, if you stay here, spring for the higher floor. Yes, the view is great, but up on the 36th floor we heard very little city noise. Very soft background only. I can imagine that it would have been a lot more invasive on a floor closer to the ground. Beds were very comfortable.
Hotel and Location-This hotel is very convenient to activities in Times Square. Food-The Foundry is a great spot for a snack or beverage. Insights-I personally would not recommend the hotel or stay here again. Service- the hotel has very large crowds and the staff is not equipped to handle large crowds. The Basics- The elevators do not function properly. I wasted a good amount of time waiting for the elevator (up to 20 minutes to get on and stopped at almost every floor on one ride alone) and my wife actually got stuck on the elevator. Extra Authorize Charges- Why has Marriott decided to charge you a deposit of $779 at check-in and then an additional prepayment of $150. What are they doing? That’s close to $1000.. for two days. Breakfast-The breakfast available at the hotel was disappointing. There was nothing available for you to order (example: no eggs/egg whites). When you are on vacation you want a great breakfast. I have status at Marriott and based on my experience this hotel can do better.
Great location and the front desk service was really nice. The first people you see when you enter the hotel are the gentleman that take your bags. They could be a little more friendly as the 1st people you encounter. You actually walk right past them, and they don't say a word. When I did have to stop and drop my bag off they were nice. The front desk people at check in were super nice and accommodating. In particular, Vesela was a real pleasure to deal with. She seemed very happy to be there and was very warm, informative and welcoming. I wish I could encounter people like her at every establishment my wife and I go to.
We just left from a truly excellent stay at the Westin Times Square! Check in was quick, friendly, and professional. Status was recognized, and I was given a high floor (40) as requested, which was really appreciated. There are 2 banks of 4 elevators, one for floors up to 22, the other for floors 23 - 45. Wait times were minimal, and the elevator was fast. The room was cozy and clean, with a modern and inviting decor. There were ample outlets and lighting, along with decent internet speeds. Temperature control worked well. The room was exceptionally quiet, and the "heavenly" Westin bed lived up to its name. Although the bathroom was small, the shelves on the wall provided enough storage space. The tub had a rain shower, which had okay but not great water pressure. The breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent, with a great choice of options, including eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, plus self-serve waffle and pancake stations. The service was some of the most friendly and attentive we've ever received. The Westin Times Square was an unexpected delight, and we will definitely consider staying here for future NYC visits!
Extremely Poor Service – Not What You Expect from Westin/Marriott My experience at the Westin New York was extremely disappointing and unacceptable for a brand that claims to be part of the Marriott group. The customer service was rude, dismissive, and highly unprofessional. Housekeeping was shockingly poor. Our room was not cleaned for three consecutive days. When this was raised with the front desk, the response was unbelievable. Ms. Whitney, the Front Desk Manager, stated that cleaning the room is not part of their service and that guests are somehow responsible for ensuring their rooms are cleaned. This is completely absurd and contrary to any standard hotel service, let alone a Westin. Ms. Whitney’s attitude was rude, unapologetic, and extremely unprofessional. There was no effort to resolve the issue, no empathy, and no accountability. Instead, we were made to feel as though we were asking for something unreasonable—basic housekeeping. If Westin no longer provides daily room cleaning or basic hospitality, they should be transparent about it and stop positioning themselves as a premium hotel. At this level of service, they might as well rebrand themselves as an Airbnb. This was a deeply disappointing stay, and I would strongly caution travelers who expect basic cleanliness, professionalism, and respectful customer service. Westin and Marriott seriously need to reassess their service standards at this property.
I loved this hotel, and will definitely be back here again soon!! The room was awesome and so was the view, best view ever!! The beds are also incredibly soft. It was also literally a minute walk from Times square! Some of the reviews scared me away but i’m so glad I booked. Only thing I didn’t like was the destination fees and how they were used I wish we could get a lot more for what we paid. The destination fee is also $40 per day as well Shoutout to Mr. Luis. He was absolutely amazing, very kind, very welcoming, and was also a highlight of our trip and so was the rest of The Westin staff from the front desk to the concierge everyone was so kind!!
I loved staying here. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy member and this was my first time staying at the Westin. My expectations were exceeded in every way. My wife and I noticed that the bellhop basically read my mind. Before I could check on my luggage I received a room call letting me know my bags are on the way up. I definitely recommend the Westin. The food was excellent for breakfast, we arrived a tad bit late but we were still able to be seated. My car was in excellent hands and was promptly brought to me. I really want to come back here soon, this experience makes me want to upgrade to Silver elite. One of the best and most beautiful hotels in New York City.
I have stayed at dozens of Marriott properties over the years, and I am sorry to say that this has been the worst experience in terms of service. To be fair, the hotel’s location, room condition, and breakfast are acceptable considering that this is Manhattan. The hotel is close to Times Square, so some noise is expected. I also did not experience any bed bug issues, which I had initially been concerned about. However, the service—particularly from the front desk staff—was extremely disappointing. When I called to report that our room had not been cleaned, the staff member responded in a confrontational manner and insisted that we must have kept the “Do Not Disturb” sign on continuously. Housekeeping was one of the most problematic aspects of our stay. Staff knocked very early every morning, repeatedly waking us up. To avoid this, we sometimes placed the “Do Not Disturb” sign on temporarily. However, to be absolutely clear, we did remove the “Do Not Disturb” sign before leaving the room around noon, and we were out for the entire day. Despite this, the room was still not cleaned. Even after contacting the front desk to report the issue, the response was often dismissive, and housekeeping was frequently not provided. The concierge service is also highly inefficient. There is almost always only one staff member available, and the line is long. If you are unlucky, you can easily end up waiting close to an hour. The restaurant service is similarly frustrating. When ordering takeout, staff prioritize dine-in customers, which often results in waits of 30 minutes or more—even for something as simple as a single ice cream. In addition, amenities are extremely limited. Given the high cost of this stay, it is unreasonable and frustrating to receive such poor service. Overall, the service level falls far below the standards I expect from a Marriott property, making this experience both disappointing and bewildering.
I am really disappointed. I came to New York on a work trip and booked a hotel close to our event venue. I DEEPLY REGRET STAYING HERE. I’m a Bonvoy Gold Elite member and my room “upgrade” was just a very very mediocre room with extensive damage that should have been fixed before anyone was let into the room. A partial list of things damaged in room 1702: - curtains over one window are partially torn off, with one of three panels missing; - rubber trim along the edge of the carpet is detaching - the base of the second phone in the room is there, but phone itself is missing - stains on wallpaper - peeling paint in many places on the bathroom ceiling - conditioner dispenser is broken and falls off the wall when pressed There is no robe, no slippers, no fridge. There was a horrendously synthetic blanket over the top sheet. Horrible quality that should not be allowed in bedding. The light everywhere is not warm light, it’s white light. The bathroom lights are very unflattering. Everything is just… disappointing. I honestly always thought the Westin was supposed to be a decent hotel, however this was not an acceptable experience. While the rooms at the Moore (also Marriott) are one third of the size, I would stay there any day over this experience. At least you get new rooms and good blankets. Oh, and don’t order room service. For some reason I thought the restaurant would be okay (the lobby looks nice and much more together than the rooms), so I ordered the sea bass and a simple salad. Huge disappointment for $70. I should have ordered Uber Eats from a nice restaurant - New York is full of so much excellent food (just not here)! I don’t know how this hotel has 4.2 stars in reviews. Also, don’t trust the hotel rating, there is nothing 5-star about this hotel. Do NOT recommend.
This hotel was extremely pleasant to stay in. I stayed at this Marriott location for a weekend, Friday to Sunday afternoon. Upon my check-in, the process was relatively simple and efficient. There was an escalator to get to the concierge service to get more detail details about what and where you’re available room was located. Upon checking in, they assured us where the elevator was, and our room was on the 16th floor. It only took a couple of minutes to go from the second to the 16th floor, believe it or not! Please be prepared for your ears to pop due to the elevation differential. Upon going into my room, immediately a must of moldy mildew smell filled my room. I was very lucky that numerous windows were able to open to assist me with airing out the bedroom. The size of the space was phenomenal! Clean, comfortable, king-size bed, pillows, continue to sink in and not firm. large couch, dining, seating area, mini fridge, water bottles, and clean towels for showering or bathing. Customer service was extremely friendly, and accommodating for a free late checkout. Would recommend to tourist that are looking to explore the NYC Times Square region.
