Guests generally praise the unbeatable Times Square location and affordable rates, noting friendly front desk service. However, the property is consistently described as severely run-down, dirty, and poorly maintained, with frequent issues including non-functional heating, broken elevators, and unresponsive maintenance.
Wish we had read reviews before booking. Rooms were ...... Interesting. Dirty. Walls covered in yellow liquid stains... Air conditioning broken. Lobby is approximately 80 degrees with the heat pumping to keep you out of it. Bunk beds were hardly stable. Basically just sheets on the bed. The door to the room closed but you could still see into the room completely through a large crack. They will not answer the phones and the lines are all disconnected. One line worked but we called it while in the lobby and the phone didn't ring. Location is very convenient!
I just wanted to add a reasonable review here. I was terrified I mad e a mistake booking it after reading all the terrible reviews. I do want to clarify that I think I have lower standard than some. This hotel was the cheapest price by far and if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep for a few nights it’s perfect. Yes the rooms are small, yes it’s dated and a bit neglected but the fact is, it provided a comfortable place in the heart of Times Square for up to crash between our outings. The staff was incredibly friendly and the location can’t be beat
This hotel is absolutely disgusting. My wife and I rented for 4 days because she is part of an event nearby. We thought hotel in time square couldn't be that bad. This hotel is beyond run-down. Our room had mold ans water flies in the bathroom. Side bed lamps that didn't work. There's a very nasty smell in the halls. Furniture in room was old, batterea, and needed to be replaced quite frankly. Old nasty thermostat on wall i wouldn't touch with a yard stick. We should have left when we arrives a couple was complaining they were.in there third room of the day over various problems from conditioning to malfunctioning tv. Be aware if you're just looking to party for some might not be bad for the.price.but for piece of mind setting after working hard this place isn't that Very irky feeling in room and hall. Oh an no ice machines work and I didn't see a vending machine will ne leaving in morning to better situation
It’s good if you’re a solo traveler and the location is super convenient but otherwise.. not worth it. The cleanliness of the room needs so much attention and improvement. It was honestly gross to shower. Service is also pretty 50/50.. depends on who’s working and what mood they’re in…. They also have an insane amount of junk fees such as tax % per night!! The base pay for my room was $350 and total ended up being almost $500 just with taxes and fees. Really would urge to look for better places to stay.
I don’t know how to say….. I uploaded what I have seen in room 402 on first day. I think I’ll find more during my stay ? But location is excellent. You can spend your time at the middle of Manhattan. Why do you need to be crying about the room decoration? You can go out and enjoy the city until midnight. You will stay in room just laying on a bed until beer and wine in your brain go out. Staff is kind and friendly. You can feel you’re welcome. Price is far cheaper than other hotels in same location. I have nothing to blame. But I need to say better you contract fast sped wireless service because WiFi in hotel is as slow as 20 years ago. You know price is really good, but it compromises something.
Stayed here in October, first room was small and felt like a jail cell and there were roaches. Also, Side note, got to the hotel early they said they could get me in a room early for $100 extra... I said yes sure. I came back down after seeing the roach and said. I'll wait for my normal check in time that I dont want the room. Front desk proceeded to tell me I can't have that refund of the $100 that was JUST charged to me by them because I used Expedia ( this was a lie that I found out through Expedia) front desk said... ill put you in a better room. It was a bigger dirtier room. Wall switches were dirty... stains in the closet, desk chair was filthy to the point I put a towel over it to not sit on it directly. Bugs in the bathroom. It was a nightmare. I unfortunately had things to do in the city so I didn't have time to argue and move again. Once I got home from my trip, I too tried calling and no one would answer. Finally got through to an operator and never heard from them again. Seems like this is their MO. Reported to Expedia about this location as well. Sounds like they are doing shady business here. Will never stay there again. All they negative reviews here ring true. Skip this place. Needs new management.
We are here now. I booked the family suite for my mother, my daughters and myself. Upon check in, I was permitted to check in early, for a $50 up charge, which I gladly paid. Check in was quick and smooth. We politely asked if there was breakfast down here in the lobby, the response was abruptly given the response of “You can find breakfast outside”. Ok, moving on. Still excited to be in NYC We are by far not hotel snobs. The room was spacious. Quickly we realized that the top bunk on the bunk beds was certainly not safe for my daughter.. so flimsy. We just put the mattress down on the floor instead. Also, not a problem and moving on. It didn’t take long to discover that the shower drain had a bunch of bugs coming out of it. Like, a lot. We covered the drain with the ice bucket to prevent more from coming into the shower, shut the bathroom door and then notified the front desk. They apologized and said they would take care of it while we were away. Which they did. Smelled like bleach when we returned but no more bugs… until throughout the evening. My mother tried to prep the coffee pot for the morning and it wouldn’t work. Front desk stated they would bring us a different one right away, it never did arrive. That night, no matter how much we tried to get the radiators to work, we just couldn’t get heat. In the morning, we asked the front desk to please have someone look at it while we were at breakfast. Again, they never had done it by the time we returned in the afternoon. Housekeeping knocked on the door while we were there and so kindly brought us a new coffee pot when we asked, as well as extra blankets because we expressed how cold the room was and she notified maintenance right away. The technician came within minutes and said the radiators and hearing was definitely not working and we needed to switch rooms. When we went to move into the new family room provided, we were met with a supervisor who informed us we would be much happier if we just stayed in our original room and he brought us a space heater instead. Seeing the condition of the proposed new room, we agreed we were ok with that as long as we got a heater put into the room and he took care of the shower bug issue again like the previous day, because they were starting to return through the drain again, He did very promptly. The location is good for the hotel, just very disappointed with so many other aspects of this hotel. I’m sure in its day, it was great but they have really let the condition fall apart and it seems like they are just piecing tiny fixes one at a time for major problems. If you are planning a trip to NYC, I’m sorry but you won’t be happy here and with I her chosen differently when planning.
Made the mistake of not reading other reviews prior to booking this hotel. As many others have described the hotel is run down, under construction and feels miserable, sticky and icky. First room had heater replaced and a bathroom door that was so damaged from water that it couldn’t close. The electrical outlets on the walls were damaged and not in service (803). We were offered to move to 1221 which after 3 attempts of going to reception because the magnetic cards didn’t work they too have up on their sad infrastructure and move us to 620. This room too had water damaged furniture, recent heater replacement and looked like an unfinished hostel not yet ready for occupancy. The window wouldn’t close and street noise was unbearable. The entire place smelled of marijuana and the front desk stated that despite signage posted and there being a $250 fine for smoking that “people did that everywhere on the property”. The wi-fi was laughable and the elevators rickety. Not sure why they were charging a resort fee when there were no services to speak of. Still waiting like others for the deposit from this to be released from my account. Back in the day this hotel was under a different brand and I had previously stayed there because of its location, rather walk a bit further or pay a few extra dollars per night for your own wellbeing and sanity. Prepaid and won’t get a refund, but left on the first night (something I’ve never done before). The front desk staff were arguing about with each other and I can’t imagine the stress they must undergo on a daily basis working here.
I be am here right now. Don’t believe some of the negative reviews from people who negative review everything. It’s a good deal for the money. The crew here is super nice. There’s plenty of hot water really cute stall shower, the place is clean and you can’t beat the location. Television works just fine and so does the remote. Hopefully you didn’t come to New York City to be in a hotel room all the time anyway. All the elevators are working and yes, they’re small but be a little patient.
We stayed from December 4–11, 2025, and this was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I had to switch rooms five times because the first ones were filthy—broken AC full of debris, chipped paint, missing ceiling lights, dirty sheets, and stained walls. The fifth room was only slightly better. The shower had no door, so cold air rushed in while bathing, and we even found two live cockroaches. Our view faced other buildings and felt depressing. The cleaning staff was nice, but they repeatedly walked in while we were sleeping, and once even came in while we were naked. Although the location was amazing but I can’t say the same for the rooms. Just a 2 min walk from Times Square. Overall, you get what you pay for. I’d give it a 2/10. I don’t recommend staying here.
