This property has seen a drastic decline in recent years, with a surge of negative reviews citing issues like theft, unprofessional security, and an unhygienic atmosphere. This stands in sharp contrast to past praise for its location and modern amenities, which were highlighted in reviews from 2022.
STOLE OUR MONEY. Avoid. There are plenty of accommodations in the area. We booked a room for early November with a no cancellation policy. One week before our stay, we received an email canceling our stay. "We regret to inform you that the Row nyc won’t be able to accommodate your reservation due to unforeseen issues out of the hotel’s control." They tried to transfer our reservation to the Crown Plaza. We contacted the Crown all the way up to our stay and they could not find us in their system. Row canceled our reservation and failed to properly transfer us to the Crown. One month later, they charged our card and will not refund us per their no cancellation policy. We did not cancel this stay and are out $1149.03. AVOID. 8/18/25 Update: No refund issued to date. AVOID.
Place was good before 2022, since then has been an intake for vagrants and homeless. They sold their sole and reputation. I won’t stay here again along with the Rosevelt Hotel.
staff will just barge in your room no knocking nothing was having sex and staff thought they smelled weed in my room and just walked in and then charged me a smoking fee when it wasnt us
So the amount of rude sketchy security guards that don’t even let you check out this hotel says it all. I was staying at the W but I’ve seen this as an option on Expedia. I thought I’d take a look and as an older female I’m rarely taken for some scum bag but that’s how I was treated. It’s clear that this is a hotel where low life’s not only come but secure the property. Now I know never to stay here!
I walked inside with my mom after a show. Security came right up to us. I told him my mom’s blood sugar was dangerously low. He told us we had to leave. I repeated that my mom’s blood sugar was dangerously low. Completely uncaring, he kept barking that we needed to leave. If you want a bouncer instead of a doorman, this is the hotel for you.
This now an emergency housing and shelter location….do not book this hotel you will not get a refund and you won’t be able to stay here ….. The hotel rooms are now given to migrants and New York families in need for housing! they are now staying in this luxury hotel for free. Main difference is the people and security on the inside And no alcohol of course The restaurant is now free to them for nice meals so don’t go thinking you can at least stop at the restaurant for a bite …its not open to public
Kudos to ROW NYC for providing an exceptional New York City experience! Located in the heart of Times Square, this hotel perfectly blends modern style with comfort, making it an ideal choice for anyone looking to explore the city. The rooms are sleek, well-designed, and offer stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. The hotel’s amenities, including their trendy bar and fitness center, enhance the guest experience. But what truly sets ROW NYC apart is the attentive and friendly staff, always going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Whether for business or leisure, ROW NYC is a fantastic place to stay.
The location of the Hotel is great, however the hotel isn't that good. First of all the rooms were very small and crowded, you barely had room to move if you were with someone. The bed sheets were absolutely terrible they were very rough and it felt like they had sand on it, utterly uncomfortable to sleep at. I have never had such a bad experience at sleeping Lastly the heating system, how does "The best city in the world" have an hotel with a Heating system from 1886 (Stated by a worker). The heater was way too hot and there was no way of turn it down, the only solution they gave us was to open the window with all the traffic noises.
Nice hotel, right around the corner from Times Square. The lobby is very nice and open. The rooms are indeed small, but not bothersome (we had the Superior room). The room is no-frills, but comfy. The bed was nice and there was a bit of storage. The bathroom is very small but it has everything you might need. Our room was clean; we didn’t have the issues some reported, but it could have used a deep cleaning in some spots, it definitely doesn’t look brand new. The elevators were fine, yes we did have to wait a few minutes but nowhere near what some report. The front desk was also fairly quick and easy, and the employees were very friendly. They were able to give us a larger bed so we had more space to sleep. It’s very close to Times Square, but it’s far enough from the crowd that it doesn’t feel too crazy right outside, although it’s still busy. If you’re looking for a hotel near Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen, I would stay here. I personally would not stay near Times Square again, but I really don’t like the touristy crowds and fanfare. Otherwise it was a good, smooth stay and the room was perfect for the long weekend.
CORRECTION ABOUT ROOM SIZE - SEE BELOW We had a Deluxe City View room with 2 double beds for 2 adults, 2 children (teens). . The size of the room was comfortable for NY sizes. We had room to stow our luggage (we had 2 large pieces). This room was larger than the New Yorker, where we stayed a few years back - at that hotel there was no room for luggage and we were walking over it. It was pretty tight. This room was comfortable. Good TV quality, nice view. Room was quiet. I never heard anyone above us or rarely in the hallway. Staff was very nice and the housekeeping team was very helpful and friendly. The only thing I would comment on is that I noticed that the room was not vacuumed every day. I did leave a nice note requesting that it be done and it was (we often brought pizza home and no matter how hard we tried, we made a few crumbs). Location wise, it's great if you want to be in the thick of things and by the theaters. It wasn't our first choice but our first hotel closed so we had to find an alternative. Still, a good deal and quality for the price.
