Good north side of Times Square with rooms that are quite large for NYC

Traditional funky Renaissance - rooms were nice and clean with quality bath products. Rooms were also larger than most in NYC I have stayed in the past. The restaurant overlooking times square is a pretty neat feature as well.

Best in New York City

We love NYC. What a fabulous town. Only one place to stay. The Renaissance Times Square has it all. Great location in the heart of the city. Fabulous breakfast overlooking Times Square!! You can feel the beat of the city. Tammy Brown at the front desk greets you with a smile!! What a nice way to start your stay. She is knowledgeable and so kind. She assures you that your stay will be memorable The rooms are a nice size and equipped with a fridge and coffee maker. Fabulous bar for an evening drink. Homey and warm!! Can’t wait to come back!!

Room Dirty/Housekeeping Requests took a full 24 hours

I booked this reservation the same day as checking-in as our flight was cancelled. Via the Marriott Bonvoy App I requested extra towels and pillows that morning. We checked in at 6pm, a room was ready- bellman was extremely helpful and quick throughout the stay but that's about it on the service aspect. Front Desk attendant was rude, made little to no eye-contact, gave no direction to the room. Checked-In to a room up on a higher floor, no view. I'm starting to wonder the purpose of being Platinum Elite. The desk and TV table had dirt and greasy handprints through out. AC was not working well so I called the front desk and asked for a fan (figuring this would be easier than switching rooms), was told it would be brought up. Asked about the towels again (as only 3 were in the room for a party of 4), was told all would be up shortly. At 10:30pm still nothing. We checked out at 9am and as we were checking-out the houseman showed up with towels (no fan). As we were checking out! Very disappointing. With the exception of the Ritz, I'm noticing a downward trend in Marriott properties especially since SPG was acquired. Service has gone down, cleanliness has gone down. Very sad.

Great Hotel in Times Square

My wife and I wanted to take our kids (9 and 5) to NYC for the first time on our anniversary. We chose the Renaissance due to it proximity to Times Square. It is indeed right in the heart of Times Square. For little kids they love being able to look out the windows and see all the people and lights. If you want to be in the busy area and see all of this, this hotel is for you. If you don't like the crowds and lights I would not stay here. Overall the noise and lights were not bad. I actually found the room to be quiet. The room had curtains so you could eliminate all the lights if needed. The staff was excellent the entire time. The concierge was very helpful along with the super friendly front desk. We of course had them hold our bags when we arrived and before we left. The hotel has recently been renovated and you could tell, it was very nice. There are also great views of Times Square from the Lounge area. Ensure you use your $30 entertainment fee. We got drinks and also went on a bus tour. The only negatives I would have: Oddly the bathroom did not have a lock, which made sharing a room with my young daughters a little more difficult. Also, again if a place offers early arrival/check in I wish they would let you know prior to the normal check in time that your room is ready. Other than that, the place was superb.

Great location

This is a good hotel - service was great. They charge a $30 destination fee but got it all back by using their big bus and food vouchers. There is a bar in the lobby that is probable the best view of Times Square in the city. Really close to all the broadway theaters.
