This centrally located Times Square hotel earns high praise for excellent service and a prime tourist spot, though guests report extremely inconsistent room conditions ranging from dirty and cramped to surprisingly spacious and clean. The experience is heavily dependent on specific staff interactions and the quality of the assigned room.
Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. The room where I stayed with my children had neither a wardrobe nor a dresser for clothes. From check-in to check-out, we had to keep all our belongings in our suitcases. During our stay, the bed linen was not changed even once. The room was vacuumed only around the edges, just enough to make it look superficially clean. The overall cleanliness was far from acceptable. The reservation was for three people, but we were given only two small towels. When I asked for an additional towel for the third person, I was told that there were not enough available. In the bathroom, we had to wait about 10 minutes for hot water in the shower. Even worse, the bathroom was dirty, and during cleaning the staff used our body towel to wipe the floor and sink. It took only a few seconds and was extremely unhygienic and unacceptable. Additionally, the room had an unpleasant smell. It was one of the worst and smelliest rooms I have ever stayed in. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel, especially for families with children.
OYO Times Square is an okay budget option for NYC. Location is decent—close to Times Square lights and subways, though the block feels a bit sketchy at night. Rooms are basic and small (bed was comfy enough, but bathroom dated and could use updating). Service was average—staff friendly but slow on requests. It's cheap and gets the job done for a short stay if you're out exploring all day, but expect no-frills and some noise from the area.
We had the biggest room in the hotel :) it was very clean tidy walk in shower air conditioning worked well we came in nov and coming back next year tv worked The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels the bed was a little uncomfortable but more than satisfying to our needs . Maria front desk..what an absolute delight she is so helpful and friendly we cant thank her enough all staff knowledgeable helpful pointing us im the right direction kept our luggage safe for our last day The only small thing we weren't informed of before coming was the 500 dollar holding fee that was a shock and came out of our spending money. But overall great experience
I stayed at OYO Times Square from 15 January 2026 to 19 January 2026. Booking.com confirmation number: 7843736256226895687. At check-in, I was charged a USD 400 security deposit. At check-out, I was explicitly informed by the front desk that the deposit would be automatically released on the same day. To date, the refund has not been processed. After checkout, I contacted Booking.com, who redirected me to the property directly. When I contacted the hotel reception, the staff member stated that he does not have authority to check deposit refunds and instructed me to contact the head office / general manager, then terminated the call without providing any contact details. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to resolve this issue via emails, phone calls, and official social media channels, but no response or resolution has been provided. This review is being posted to publicly document the unresolved deposit issue and to request immediate intervention from hotel management or OYO corporate support. I request: 1) Immediate release of the USD 400 security deposit, and 2) Written confirmation of the refund transaction. Until this matter is resolved, I cannot recommend this property to future guests. I sincerely hope hotel management addresses this promptly and professionally.
This hotel was in a very poor state and far below what we expected. The rooms were cramped, tired-looking, and not properly maintained. Our first room was especially unpleasant — the bathroom ceiling and upper walls were covered in dozens of dead fruit flies, which was frankly unhygienic. We had booked for four nights through a travel agent, but after just one night we asked to change rooms because the condition was so bad. Although staff moved us fairly quickly, we were told that ceilings are not part of their cleaning routine, which was surprising given how dirty they were. Sadly, the second room wasn’t any better. The bed frame was broken and had been held together with zip ties by maintenance, which made it unstable and uncomfortable. The air conditioning was also extremely noisy, something that seems to be a known issue based on other guests’ reviews. After two nights, we decided to leave and find alternative accommodation. The staff were polite but seemed largely indifferent to the poor state of the hotel. The location was good, but that alone does not make up for the lack of cleanliness and basic maintenance when there are far better options nearby. Do not waste your money, stay somewhere else.
Great hotel with an excellent location, very close to the subway. The staff was extremely polite, friendly, and always willing to help, which made my stay even better. The room was comfortable and clean, and getting around the city was very easy thanks to the nearby public transportation. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
Front desk and maid service was very good and even the maintenance staff were very pleasant. We were not happy with the room, the bed, the amenities and towels. I reserved a room with a king bed, didn’t receive that. The bed was a full size at best and was very thin and on a wobbly bed frame with support springs. The room was small (will give that part a pass as it is NYC), no closet to hang clothing… just some wall hooks. No in-room ironing board or iron, no dresser, no mini fridge as one would expect in even a basic hotel room. The walls needed to be cleaned or at least wiped down on occasion. It felt more like a European hostel type of room that certainly was not worth the $1700 I paid for a 3 night stay. The kicker was the really cheap, very worn, white towels with very very low thread count that were frayed all along the outside edges! Really OYO? You have the audacity to charge that much per night and can’t even have quality towels on hand, or at least ones that aren’t falling apart!? In all honesty the only thing positive about this hotel (other than the very nice staff working there) is the fact that it is only a block and a half from Time Square, and a couple blocks from the Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall and other attractions. Overall: A+ for proximity and friendly staff but a D- for the room and amenities (for the price you pay)!
We mostly stayed here for the location — being in the heart of Times Square made it convenient to walk to a lot of places! The staff was friendly and we didn’t have a lot of interaction with them. The elevator is super small and makes checkout frustrating since everyone is trying to check out at the same time, but only 2 people and bags can fit in the elevator at a time. The room was decent, but the bathroom is one big shower floor with a drain so prepare to get your socks wet if you go in there to brush your teeth or use the toilet. The window shades have holes in them and do little to block out the NYC lights or noise. But the room was clean and more spacious and affordable than most NYC hotels.
This is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, especially considering the price. The only positive was the location, it’s right in Times Square, which is incredibly convenient. Unfortunately, everything else was disappointing. The room itself felt very dirty. I wasn’t bothered by the small size (I expected that), but the condition of the room was unacceptable. The paint on the walls was peeling, and there were scratches and marks everywhere. The bathroom was also quite dirty, especially the floors and tiles. I was also surprised and disappointed that no body lotion was provided. Lastly, I am not sure if it is just my room but when I push on my door (when it’s locked) it still pushes in which makes me feel like the room can be easily broken into. The cleaning staff was kind and polite, but even then, the towels we received had blue stains on them, which was concerning. Overall, the location is great, but the cleanliness and room quality were far below expectations. I would not stay here again.
One of my best stays ever! I had such a pleasant experience at this OYO Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located but what truly made the difference was Maria at the front desk. She was incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful, always greeting guests with a smile and making sure everything was just right. Her kindness and professionalism made my stay feel extra special. Thank you, Maria, for making this trip one to remember! ?
