Location is amazing but that was all

I have stayed at the Marriott Maquis numerous times, mainly because it is right in the centre of times square. if you want to pay the extra money you can get an amazing view of times square. However, I just finished a 5 night stay and it was the worst experience in multiple ways: 1) I booked a superior guest room with two double beds and a sofa bed with a times square view. The windows were filthy. I had a view but I also had a view of the dirt on the windows. it is not worth the money for the extra price. 2) we had three adults staying in the room. The sofa bed was essentially a single box spring mattress that stuck into your back. if this is what is advertised as a sofa "bed' it certainly cannot be slept in. The bed was not made up and when we complained and were promised another mattress what we found were two thick blankets left on one of the double beds....we had to make up the sofa bed ourselves. It barely helped. Please do not book this type of room unless you plan on not using the sofa "bed". 3) The view restaurant. The good; an amazing view/tasty food. The bad: very expensive. The ugly; the service. We wanted wine with our dinner. by the time the waitress came back we were half done our dinner. We ordered dessert but were never given a chance to get coffee/tea. C'mon Marriott ..what is this?? I am never going to stay there again. Utterly disappointing. I do not expect this lack of care from a Marriott and certainly not for the exorbitant price we paid. The customer in this case was clearly not the priority.

Great Location, Great Service, Could use better TVs in the rooms

We recently stayed here after staying there many years ago. The location can’t be beat!! The service is extraordinary. I like the elevator system. The only downside was the quality of tv in a pricey room. Please upgrade to a digital picture. We bought the breakfast package that came with $30 credit/night’s stay as well as 1 free attraction ticket for around town. It worked great. I’d highly recommend.

Well prepared food , good service, and comfortable conference facilities.

Comfortable facility for a whiskey fest 2019. Well staffed and nicely prepared food. Spacious and clean however the event was packed which brought a tune issues. Staff was friendly and organized. Nice layout for the event. Food was tasty.

Tired and Going Down Hill

Yes it is still a great location but they've been slipping more each year. They have added a "rip off" $30 resort fee for nothing. (By the way they are not a resort). On our last stay we could barely get into the main restaurant/bar to get a drink as it was overflowing with pre meeting participants and the restaurant overlooking times square was closed for a private event. We could not find anyplace to sit and finally gave up. The next day we were waiting to meet friends in the lobby but the area available for seating was fun of pre theatre goers so we found two seats in the now mostly empty restaurant area (We are in our 70's) to wait. The waitress informed us we could not wait there without buying a drink. I said we were guests of the hotel waiting to meet our friend and the other seating was full as she could plainly see. She said it didn't matter we had to order something or move. I said "No" we should be gone in 10 or 15 minutes and if that was not acceptable she could fetch a manager. She huffed off and that was the last of that as our friends arrived within 10 minutes so we could all go out together. They were also guests at the hotel and felt equally disabused. The reality is that the hotel is so well located and has such a needed range of meeting and reception space that they are always in the 90% occupancy range and they just don't bloody give a damn if you like it or not. They have someone waiting behind you to fill your slot. Too bad as it reflects badly on all Marriotts and they deserve better.

Dear James H, Thank you for choosing our hotel, and also for taking the time to review your stay. We regret you left with a negative impression of our hotel. We implemented our destination fee to provide our guests with a 4:1 value, with appealing offerings to enrich your city experience. To make it a significant value, we must pass the cost through to all of our guests, and we encourage you to take advantage of these amenities! We appreciate the feedback regarding your experience at the restaurant and we will share this with the appropriate management. We hope you will stay with us again so we may provide you with a better experience. Gabby Roque Guest Relations Manager
