The Hyatt Centric Times Square New York offers a convenient location in the heart of Times Square, known for its spacious rooms and comfortable beds. While lauded for its cleanliness and proximity to attractions, guest experiences vary; some praise exceptional service from staff like Amy and Jonan, while others highlight issues with inconsistent service, outdated facilities, and challenges with hotel policies during events like New Year’s Eve. The rooftop bar is a popular feature, but the hotel’s breakfast offering is considered basic for the price point.
Our stay at Hyatt Centric in Times Square was a pleasure for me, but a business trip for my husband. I am a teacher, and it’s my summer break, so I will walk the city and try to see a couple of Broadway shows. My husband picked this hotel for its location, as it is convenient for him to get to Rockefeller Center and Broadway shows, and for me to get to Rockefeller Center. Room, Cleanliness, & Maintenance: The hotel is very clean. The room is pretty spacious for an NYC room. There is a desk that I used to eat at a couple of times, a recliner, and space on the wall for two suitcases. They could use another luggage rack, as they only had one. The bed is neither too soft nor too hard. The cleaner on my floor was very friendly, provided extra towels, and cleaned the room while I went for my morning walk. There was security to open doors and ensure that everyone entering was either at the hotel or the bar on the rooftop bar. Noise & Comfort: The hotel is near Times Square, so it can be noisy outside, but you’re in the center of it all, so expect it. I am not a fan of their soft, squishy pillows, but they have firmer ones available upon request. Accuracy of Amenities: WiFi was very fast and easy to access. They have a rooftop bar that has good views. The gym was small but equipped with everything necessary.
Had an amazing stay at Hyatt Centric Times Square New York! We originally booked a King Bed room and had requested a rollaway bed. During check-in, I mentioned that it was my birthday, and Jonan kindly upgraded us complimentary to a 2 Queen Bed room, which made our stay even more special. A special thank you to Bryan Ortega, the doorman, who welcomed us warmly and helped us with our luggage and everything we needed when we arrived. His hospitality and kindness really stood out. I would also like to thank Tyler Olszewski, Front Office Manager, and Dede Davis at the front desk for their excellent service and professionalism throughout our stay. The entire team truly went above and beyond to make our experience comfortable, memorable, and special. Highly recommend Hyatt Centric Times Square New York for anyone visiting New York!
The only good things about this hotel were the location and the decent-sized rooms. The hotel was clean, but definitely not worth the price. I’ve stayed in many Hyatt hotels around the world, and this was easily one of the worst experiences. The “breakfast” is not really a breakfast at all — it’s just a small credit for the store next to the hotel, where you can choose from a few basic sandwiches and standard supermarket food. At check-in, one staff member was very kind and helpful, but the rest of the service felt surprisingly unprofessional for a hotel of this category. The hotel had no slippers or bathrobes available, and when we asked, we were told they had run out and would bring them later, we got only slippers. They also didn’t have charging adapters available at the reception, so we had to buy one ourselves, although we received one later from very nice and polite cleaning lady. The checkout experience was even worse. The receptionist behaved as if we were bothering her just by checking out — extremely rude and disrespectful, which was honestly shocking for a hotel claiming to be a premium 4-star property. The location near Times Square is convenient, but there are many cheaper and better hotels nearby. The property feels old, outdated, and in need of renovation. Overall, it does not feel like a true 4-star hotel at all.
Had a great stay at Hyatt Centric Times Square. The room was quite spacious for NYC standards, very clean, and comfortable. The location is excellent — just a short walk to Times Square, making it easy to get around. Special thanks to Dyana, who assisted us from check-in until check-out. She was incredibly helpful, warm, and attentive, truly making our stay even more enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting New York City.
I have visited NYC often and this was my first stay at this Hyatt Centric Midtown/Times Square hotel (7 nights). I cannot say enough good things about the Hyatt Centric Midtown/Times Square and plan to stay at this hotel on all future visits. The hotel is strategically located to not only key NYC tourist spots, but it is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, subway transport, grocery stores (Whole Foods, etc.), convenience stores, etc. Everything! If you want coffee, there are two coffee shops across the street, and an eatery a few doors down. The hotel rooms are well maintained and the housekeeping staff is top notch. I have a high bar when it comes to hotel cleanliness and this hotel is invested in creating a comfortable experience for their guests. It shows that the hotel leadership is training their staff and paying attention to details. The hotel amenities such as the gym and rooftop bar are very good. While there is no room service, the NYC food delivery is exceptional. Any food you want 24/7 is available. The front desk service is exceptional. Well-staffed, courteous and welcoming. There is security person near the hotel elevators to ensure only guests are roaming around, and the elevator requires a key card. Only one minor complaint, the cafe adjacent to the hotel is overpriced and the food options are limited. Moreover, the service there is subpar - zero focus on customer service. Doesn't matter, since there are so many options so you really do not need the cafe. Great hotel - can't go wrong.
Amazing Stay from Start to Finish. I stayed here for my birthday and it was honestly perfect. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Location couldn’t be any better. The view alone is worth booking! But what really made my stay unforgettable was Dede at the front desk. She was kind, attentive, and genuinely made an effort to make my birthday special. That level of care means so much. Thank you for such a beautiful experience. Can’t wait to return!
One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. We were there for an engagement ceremony, and the entire experience was exceptional. The staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming. The bellman kindly assisted us both when arriving and leaving, especially with our luggage and flowers. At reception, the team was very accommodating. Once I mentioned we were there for an engagement ceremony, they thoughtfully offered to show me the room before check-in to make sure it was the hallway I was hoping for — a detail I truly appreciated. The stay itself was wonderful: great room service, an excellent location, and easy access to some of the best that NYC has to offer. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Good job!
I was dissapointed in my stay here. I booked through Amex travel partially because they offered 12pm check in when available. I arrived at 1pm and our room was not ready. Not taking off points for this because I know it is only "when available". However our room was not ready until 5pm, a full hour later than standard check-in. The more significant issue is we received a note that our hot water and heat would be out 11pm-6am one day. Not a huge deal, except there was still no hot water when I tried to shower at 9:30am. I went down to the front desk to inquire and was told that they expected it back around 2pm. I came back around 6pm and again the water was still only lukewarm. All around the customer service was off. Twice I went to the cafe and there was no one working there. When I asked about the issue with the hot water, they offered no apology (let alone some kind of discount). The general vibe of people at the front desk and cafe were not very friendly. The exception is the servers at the rooftop bar, who were great. The room was also very clean, spacious, and quiet. It's a fine hotel, it just did not have the quality I expected based on the price.
As a regular Hyatt member, I was extremely pleased with the quality and service of the hotel. Check in, the staff was very courteous and friendly - valet, security, front desk, etc. The room was clean, stylish, and modern. Equipped with a safe and mini-fridge. Bathroom is updated with a rain shower and cozy color scheme. Location is great! Within walking distance to restaurants, shows, and Times Square sites. Relatively quiet, did not hear any street noise or traffic. Overall, a very nice Hyatt brand hotel. Will definitely visit/book again.
I frequently traveled to NYC for work and had the opportunity to stay at various hotels around Times Square, but the Hyatt Centric Times Square truly stood out. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the spacious room that easily accommodated two large suitcases. The modern, pristine bathroom added a touch of luxury to my stay. Our room was on the 50th floor, and the incredible view of the city skyline was simply breathtaking! I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to any business traveler looking for comfort and convenience in the heart of New York City.
