The Hilton New York Times Square offers a prime location in the heart of Times Square, providing easy access to attractions, theaters, and public transportation. However, recent reviews reveal a mixed experience, with some guests praising the staff and hotel’s central location while others express dissatisfaction with room cleanliness, outdated facilities, and inconsistent service. Notably, several recent reviews highlighted issues with room maintenance and front desk responsiveness, particularly concerning unexpected fees and room assignments.
Room was nice with a lot of space and was also clean and comfortable. The location is nice as the subway is nearby and you are in walking distance of anything in times square area. Ticia checked in via text a couple of times to verify things were going well which was a nice touch. I was on a business trip but I would stay here again whether personal or business related.
My family and I recently stayed at the Hilton New York Times Square during our trip to New York City and had a great experience. The location is hard to beat. It was within walking distance of so many attractions and was literally right next to the Aladdin theater, which made it incredibly convenient for our family. While the rooms could use a little updating, they were clean, comfortable, and worked well for our stay. What really stood out happened on our way home. While at the airport waiting for our flight, we realized we had accidentally left our passports and a pair of sunglasses locked in the room safe. By that point it was too late to return to the hotel, and we were understandably concerned. The Security Department was absolutely outstanding. They quickly located our belongings, kept us informed throughout the process, and helped coordinate their safe return to us after we had already returned home. What could have turned into a very stressful situation was handled with professionalism, honesty, and genuine care. A sincere thank you to the Security Department and everyone involved. Great customer service is easy to appreciate, but finding a team you can truly trust is even more valuable. We would happily stay here again on a future trip to New York.
I have been a loyal Hilton customer and have stayed at properties in different locations —including Hilton Las Vegas, Hilton Los Angeles, and Hilton Kuala Lumpur. I even have an upcoming stay booked at the Hilton Midtown Times Square. Unfortunately, my experience at this Hilton Times Square property was easily the worst among all of them. As a Hilton Honors member, I expect a baseline level of service, but this stay was a massive disappointment from start to finish. We arrived at the hotel around 11:00 AM. Despite my membership status, we were forced to pay a $100 early check-in fee, which set a poor tone for the rest of our trip. From there, the room and service issues only escalated: Wrong View: We specifically paid extra for a room with a Times Square view, but the room we were given had absolutely no view of it. Broken Bathroom Door & Disruption: The bathroom door in this first room wouldn't even close. Instead of immediately assigning us a proper room, they sent a maintenance engineer to fix it while we were inside. We had just arrived from a long trip and were exhausted; having construction work done around us was incredibly frustrating and intrusive. Downgraded Floor: When they finally moved us, they placed us six floors lower, entirely ignoring the fact that we had paid for a high-floor room. Poor Breakfast Service: To cap it all off, when we went down for breakfast, we were the first couple in line. Despite arriving first, the staff prioritized another couple who came after us and seated them ahead of us. Given how beautifully the Hilton brand operates in cities like Vegas, LA, and Kuala Lumpur, the management at this Times Square location needs a serious wake-up call. I paid for a premium experience and received subpar service at every turn. Avoid this location until they fix their hospitality standards.
This was one of the most disappointing and unacceptable hotel experiences I have ever had. I spent over $2,000 for a two-night stay, including a high-end suite, and the level of service I received was absolutely shocking. I strongly advise guests not to waste their money on the suites at this hotel. During my stay, I requested a microwave twice, but nothing was delivered and there was no follow-up. When I asked again, the staff member at customer service, Michelle, responded in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner, basically asking, “It’s $20 — do you want it or not?” That kind of attitude is completely unacceptable at any hotel, let alone one charging luxury-suite prices. I also requested late checkout, but it was apparently never properly entered into the system. As a result, my room key stopped working, and I had to go back down to the front desk just to fix a problem that should never have happened in the first place. For the amount of money I paid, I expected professional service, basic courtesy, and proper communication. Instead, I was treated poorly and made to feel like an inconvenience. If you want to spend a lot of money and receive terrible service, then this hotel — especially the suite rooms — may be for you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend staying somewhere else.
Did not stay here, but stopped by for a drink before our dinner reservations next door. Had the most adorable crafted cocktail that came in this glass. It was also delicious. Very impressed by the bartender at this place. 10/10 and highly reccomend for a quick cocktail when waiting for your room, or even when wandering around town. It was either this place or Applebee's and who wants to do cocktails at an Applebee's? Not I!
Fantastic Stay with One Small Hiccup I stayed here for Christmas 2025 and had a wonderful experience overall. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—literally a two-minute walk to Times Square, with endless dining, shopping, and the Subway right at your doorstep. I had booked and paid for a high-floor room with an Empire State Building view; while I did get the high floor, the specific view wasn't what I paid for. That being said, the room itself was fantastic, the staff was professional, and the overall vibe of the hotel was excellent. I’d definitely stay here again!
Pretty ‘meh’ for a Hilton. We checked in on New Years Day, around 5pm. Our room was not ready until after 7pm. Busy day, short staff- I can understand this. Our late room was without any towels - this I did not understand. The strangest part of our experience was getting deliberately removed from an empty restaurant seating area, just outside their market. We purchased items from the market, and decided to seat ourselves in the empty dining area. If there were people actively dining in the area, we would not have sat there. After about 10 minutes, a member of the bar staff walked from the actively served area to where we are, and asked us to move with a high degree of annoyance. He explained that no outside food was allowed (purchased from the Hilton market…) and that we would need to move to the other side of the bar. He was likely following the rules put in place my management; it struck me as a really odd time for rules enforcement. Positive shout-out to RJ on the staff for his assistance! I would advise against the breakfast. There are many great options steps from the hotel.
If you’re looking for a clean and safe hotel in the heart of Times Square, this is it. Loved our stay here! This hotel staff is the friendliest group I’ve ever encountered. The lobby was bustling, the bar is fantastic, and the room was huge! Some drawbacks: I’m a Hilton honors member and had to pay $50 to check in early, even though I was messaged that the room was ready. Also, the fee for WiFi was crazy high. That should be included for Honors members.
Have been selecting Hilton Times Square based on its ratings and cannot fully understand it. The space is not made for a lot of guests, but has too many of them. The rooms are old, but spacious. At least the bed was what you can expect. As a diamond member I was not given anything special, no upgrades given the period of year, still I would expect much better. Sentences like: „why have you selected that hotel during this time of the year?“, from the staff are sort of confusing. Room: we have received a room on a lower floor and it was smelling like a KFC, the lights and sounds of Times Square could be heard, but that is rather normal given the location. Positive side: the rooms have been clean and the cleaning service works as expected and is super friendly (this stopped me from a 1 star rating). Given the price and point ratio there are way better places to stay in New York. Me personally, I will not come back.
We absolutely loved our room on the 41st floor. A large room with a gorgeous view. Very clean. Our room was also cleaned daily. We were able to check in online and use digital key. That was a nice time saver. Close to the subway, Times Square, and Broadway. I would definitely stay here again. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because no one would ever answer the phone at the front desk. We had some issues before arriving and always got a recording and no call back. Called several times. Also, keep in mind the hotel charges $100 per night you stay for incidentals. Of course, you get it back, but that's a chunk of money.
