Kimpton Hotel Theta receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its spacious rooms, excellent location, and friendly staff, while others report issues with cleanliness, noise, and service. Recent reviews show a decline in customer satisfaction, particularly regarding billing discrepancies and staff rudeness. Despite some concerns, the hotel’s location and amenities remain attractive to many.
This hotel wasn’t great. The staff was nice, but someone clearly cheated out on keycards. So if your card comes within a few inches of anything like a phone or wallet, you’ll need a new one. They have a motion sensor light in the bathroom that turns off after 5 minutes, so you will be showering in the dark. The alarm clock turned itself back on daily and I had to unplug it from the wall, which was more tedious than it sounds. The staff was nice and helpful and the room felt clean, but everything else was subpar
We just completed our second stay at Kimpton Theta Hotel in Time Square. Another wonderful stay in a prime location and an incredible team of professionals caring for our family! Kudos to Princess and Tanya for their amazing assistance and kindness. We book this hotel every time we're in NYC...truly the best. If you want a fantastic hotel, spacious (yes, spacious in NYC!) rooms, pristine, and just a wonderful, welcoming staff, look no further than Kimpton Theta. You'll be so glad you did!
the room is very spacious and the staff is so welcoming and nice. i saw reviews saying that the staff is rude but my experience was totally different. the rooms were very nice and you were provided with a water fill station with very good filtered water in the hallway. however the ac was making weird noises not loud just weird like a buzz that was very loud in different parts of the room. other than that the stay was very nice since we changed out previous hotel to this one. i liked the water temperature and water pressure since for me this makes a big change. also the complementary blow dryer was very good!!
To be homest I was expecting that much comfort. Bed was very comfortable. The room was not ‘enough’, it was big! This is a rare found in NYC. No bad smell: Another rare found. I loved the bathroom the only problem was the shower head was not moving. The cabinet was enough for my 2 luggages full of clothing etc. TV was big and I loved that, cuz it made my hotel time better to watch Youtube. I used JFK transfer of the hotel and that was additional nice touch. You don’t know the comfort of the car when you use uber, but my transfer was great. I will come again.
Bad experience at Kimpton Theta New York. I had already prepaid for my stay, but the hotel charged my credit card again and never returned the money. When I called, the staff was rude and even hung up on me. Very dishonest. The stay itself was also unpleasant. The room, towels, and bathroom were not clean, I saw small flies, and the room was extremely noisy at night. The AC made strange sounds, and even without it on, there was still constant noise. Overall, poor service, poor cleanliness, and a billing issue. I would not recommend this hotel.
Room is spacious by NYC standard. Interior is new. Amenities and service are ok. Here are a few down sides. West-facing rooms are pretty noisy all day long due proximity to 8th Ave and a fire station one block away. The window of my room is very dusty. It appeared that it hasn’t been cleaned for quite some time, but other places are clean. The mattress is a little bit disappointing for hotel of this price tag.
The hotel was a great location for our visit. The check in was the least friendly part of our visit. Not very helpful not welcoming. The people who serve coffee in the morning are thoughtful and friendly. The people at the door are welcoming and helpful. The housekeeping crew did great. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. HVAC is a bit loud.
Beautiful hotel with clean, well organized room. Staff was welcoming and helpful as well. Love that coffee is complementary in the morning. Wi-fi worked the whole time and the technology is up to date and soaked as well. The location is fabulous - 1 block from. Whole Foods and Starbucks. the Foot Emporium grocery is right on the corner. My only dissatisfaction was the fitness room. It is tiny. If you’re a gym rat, be prepared for minimal equipment and cramped space. 2 treadmills, 2 Peloton bikes, 2 ellipticals, 1 bench, 1 barbell set 10lb-50lb and a couple yoga pats and balls. Nice place, just don’t go for the gym.
Stayed at the Kimpton Theta in New York and had a really great experience overall. The room was huge by NYC standards, super comfortable, and honestly felt like a luxury after long days in the city. The service throughout the hotel was excellent — friendly, helpful, and professional. The only downside was that the front desk/check-in process was a bit slow, especially at busier times. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. A big plus: the heating was amazing, which matters a lot in the middle of winter. And the location is unbeatable — perfect for Broadway, Times Square, and getting around Manhattan easily. Would definitely stay again!
I can not say enough good things. Staff from the doorman to the front desk to housekeeping were excellent and went above and beyond at every turn. The staff was friendly, funny, and really stood out from many of our NYC stays. The location of 50th/8th was perfect, and the proximity to Hell's Kitchen/46th St was all we needed for dining. Rooms were spacious for a family of 4 and had everything we needed. Bravo to the welcoming staff!
