This newly renovated Hyatt location offers premium views of Times Square and exceptional accessibility to Manhattan's main attractions, though recent guests report significant issues with staff professionalism and billing transparency that contrast sharply with the property's modern amenities.
I had to take a moment and write a review about my stay here the 3rd week in January. This experience was by far the most amazing stay in N.Y. for me and my family. The ambience of this building was outstanding. Such a friendly and on point staff. We stood on the 18th floor and you would think you would hear the Time Square traffic. It was as quiet as can be. The location is spectacular. The rooms were so clean and we felt at home. We will certainly be reserving here again for sure.
I had a fantastic stay and was honestly surprised after seeing some lower reviews beforehand—but it’s clear those must have been from before the renovation. The hotel has been redone beautifully and feels clean, fresh, and modern. The rooms were clean, the beds were super comfortable, and despite being right in the heart of Times Square, the hallways were quiet and allowed for good night’s sleep. The staff was very accomodating providing us with a crib for the baby and an extra blanket. Service was excellent from start to finish, with an easy, smooth check-in and check-out process. The gym was a standout—large, well-equipped, and much better than what you usually find at hotels in this area. Valet parking is available (a bit pricey, but there are cheaper options down the block). If you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable, modern hotel in the heart of Times Square , this place is absolutely worth it. I’d definitely stay here again.
Just finished 3 nights 4 days at this hotel with my wife and kids (13 & 11). The property just went through a substantial renovation and it clearly shows. The rooms are large, clean and extremely quiet. The elevators, lobby and hallways are all tastefully done. However, the best part was the staff. The general manager Mohit, the cleaning staff, the front desk and doormen were all super friendly, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend whether coming for business or planning a family trip.
Amazing stay; perfect Times Square location! We had an incredible stay at the Hyatt Regency Times Square! I came with my two girls and everything was truly excellent, the rooms were clean, comfortable, and felt modern and classy. The staff and service were outstanding from start to finish- everyone was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. The location is unbeatable: right in the heart of Times Square, super convenient for walking to everything, yet the hotel still felt calm and upscale. We felt safe, taken care of, and totally enjoyed our trip. Highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again!
Hostile Profiling and Financial Exploitation: A Warning for Families I chose the Hyatt Regency Times Square (formerly the Crowne Plaza) expecting the high level of professional service I have experienced at this location in the past. Instead, my family was met with an environment of targeted hostility, religious profiling, and predatory financial conduct. Upon arrival, I was singled out for a "security" protocol that staff explicitly admitted does not exist as an official property policy. After observing my religious attire (hijab), an agent seized my government identification and removed it to a restricted area for over 35 minutes across two instances. During this window of time, I personally witnessed multiple non-Muslim guests processed at the counter without their documents ever leaving their sight. While in unmonitored possession of my identification and credit card, the hotel executed two unauthorized charges totaling $1,498.04 for reservations that were already fully prepaid via Priceline. When my husband and I presented physical proof of the original payments, the management issued a material misrepresentation, claiming the booking was "too old" to locate, despite it being confirmed only days prior. Rather than resolving the billing error, the manager mocked our distress and made disparaging comments regarding our "energy". The remainder of my stay was spent walking on eggshells. I felt completely unable to approach the front desk for assistance, as the environment was one of intimidation rather than hospitality. My sole priority became ensuring the safety of my children until we could safely check out and document these civil rights violations. I have initiated formal proceedings with the New York Attorney General and the NY Division of Human Rights. If you value your privacy and expect to be treated with basic human dignity, do not stay here.
The rooms were gorgeous, I stayed on the 46th floor and the view was magnificent from any of the windows. You get a full view of Times Square whichever floor you’re on. I was very lucky to be able to get access to the pen for the ball drop, and getting back into the hotel was super easy. Breakfast and dinner were incredibly doable. Loved the experience, and I was very satisfied with everything about the hotel. Would go again.
The location of the Hyatt Regency Times Square is excellent and hard to beat, especially if you want to be right in the heart of NYC. Being so close to everything made sightseeing very convenient. On New Year’s Eve it was understandably difficult to get back to the hotel due to road closures and crowds, but that’s to be expected for the area and holiday. The rooms are spacious, which was a big plus. There was plenty of room to relax and unwind without having to lay on the bed, something that’s not always easy to find in NYC hotels. There were a few issues during our stay that took away from the overall experience. The refrigerator in our room was not keeping drinks cold. When I called to request a replacement, instead of swapping it out, another refrigerator was simply placed in the room, which took up additional space. We also noticed there were no extra toilet paper rolls in the room, so we had to call to request more, which I would normally expect to be standard. Additionally, the room was booked for four guests, but only three towels were provided. Each day I had to request an extra towel. Another issue was the room temperature. Despite turning the thermostat down, the room stayed very hot. We were told that during this time of year the system only blows heat and that we should turn it off and open the window. Unfortunately, even doing that did not cool the room down. Overall, the location and room size are major positives, but the room amenities and comfort did not fully meet expectations for a Hyatt property. With some attention to these details, the experience could be much better.
Super bummed to be leaving this review, because the location is great, rooms were clean, and the service/housekeeping staff were a phenomenal. These are the only reasons I’m leaving 2 stars. The front of house staff seriously needs to be re-evaluated. I keep seeing the hotel responding to reviews about this saying they’re taking feedback seriously, but it’s not obvious. We stayed here back in early November and it was fine. Check in took a weirdly long time despite there being hardly anyone in line. We were told we were upgraded for free…to the room we already booked. The woman at the front desk found our reservation, seemed confused, didn’t communicate what was going on, then said she upgraded us for free. When we said it was the room we booked, she insisted it wasn’t even though we have the original confirmation email lol. Super weird to gaslight your guests for no reason but whatever. It was one issue so we moved on. We booked a trip to come back, this time with our families, so we tripled the amount of rooms we had last time and brought in repeat and new business. It will be the last time. Your front of house check in staff are severely lacking in customer service skills. Multiple calls and in person requests for things like towels and a roll away bed that went unanswered, arguments every time we needed something. Giving information to look up rooms to be told they couldn’t find reservations only to magically find them when we threatened to leave. Being told we booked through a third party when we went directly through the site…and it varied each new front desk person we got. The lobby line was bonkers long, and understand it’s the holiday season so we were forgiving to a point, but it was long because your front desk staff has no idea what they’re doing at all. Each person gave a different answer and pointed us in a different direction. Insane! We asked about a late check out and the guy “helping” asked for what time. We asked HIM to tell us what our options were and he refused, wanting US to tell him a time. As soon as we said 2pm, he immediately just said “best I can do is 12pm” like just say that!!! What was the point of the run around?? Overall, all three parties had a less than ideal stay, and it’s entirely the fault of your front desk staff. We won’t be returning, which is a shame because we’re always booking at Hyatt. For what we paid and the way we were treated, absolutely unacceptable. My suggestion is that you move your housekeeping staff to the front desk because they seemed to be the only kind, capable people there. Yikes!!
This hotel has a perfect location. Times Square and the theater district are outside the entrance of the hotel. Walkable to Rockefeller plaza, Radio City Music Hall, restaurants, and shopping. We had a corner king room that overlooked Times Square. Great view! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly. We will definitely stay here again.
I have stayed at various Hyatt’s in NYC and this hotel was both spacious and new, and the location is unbeatable. However, some pricing issues and interaction with evening Manager negatively colored my overall experience. 1. There was a significant difference from when I booked my stay to the price of the hotel leading up to my travel. I booked for ~$750/night and the price dropped to $550/night and no accommodation could be made when I called this out to staff and management at check in. 2. Manager was kind enough to hear me on the above issue, and promised to compensate with Hyatt points (which left me feeling a bit better), but after my stay, I realized there was actually no additional points awarded. 3. When I inquired with the front desk for the manager contact info (#, email, business card) they could not provide any of that info. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well stocked, but two things stuck out: 1. Air conditioning unit does not actually achieve desired temperature (e.g AC unit read 68F but it felt like 76F) , and 2. Shower water temperature is mildly hot at best. As a loyal Hyatt Globalist, I really wanted to like this hotel and provide a higher review.. maybe next time!
